TL;DR: buy it for 10$ or less, don't bother if you want all achievements.

Game finished in 17 hrs in coop. From the perspective of a guest player this game has many bugs, e.g. area rating not updating, inability to put object on the ground, disappearing tamed animals. Aside from that some bugs affect all players, not only guests, e.g. animals getting stuck, birds hitting air instead of trees, dogs digging random places when ordered to dig a specific place, achievements not completing.
Having said that playing as the host is mostly bug-free so if you want to play with other people, let the least patient person be the host. If you're still interested, buy it on sale (10-15$ at most). Don't get me wrong - this game is quite cozy and enjoyable, but it's short, has many bugs (mostly for guest players) and not much of a story.

The game has some stuff going for it, the critters are cute and fun to work with, the artwork is nice, it has interesting areas and a straightforward if a bit dull plotline. But the gameplay loop is fairly boring and it's lacking a ton of polish. Several major Achievements are either bugged or so poorly set up that they appear to be bugged. As best I could tell I've 100%ed the game, and did so in about 16 hours. The graphic settings are weird at best and even playing on medium and high graphics my little critters had extremely poor appearances in their cut scenes. Like, straight up no eyes. The combat never stopped feeling half-hearted, and the entire game is fetch quests with almost no deviation. The critter's AI is also extremely lackluster and commanding them was often an annoyance. The pirate sections are one-note and while a slightly interesting change of pace, it's just a timing puzzle. Directions given by the game are vague for a number of tasks and effectively require online guides. There's also no way to tell in-game what resources come from what location that I could find, which meant tabbing out to a wiki to try to find what I needed.

Overall, it feels like the concept never really got much development. The game has combat, farming, crafting, resource gathering and critter controling but it doesn't do any of them particularly well. I played it all the way through to completion for the sake of it, and to see if it ever got good, and it never really did. If this sort of game/art style interests you, Cult of the Lamb would probably be a better pick. This one probably isn't worth it.
