How do you enter the lat/long into the boat software?

when i try to insert coordinates, the keyboard doesn't come up at all. I tried click on the display, input numbers, click everywhere, but nothing.

I think there are a few major problems with this puzzle. First off- there is no reset button, so you don't know what is the default position after moving the levers, unless you noticed before hand. This adds to the confusion. Second- there is a very subjective kind of logic to it, which is a pitfall of puzzle games.
