I'm a keyboard player, but even I have to admit this genre works better with a controller. Throw in shoulder key combos for quick spell/action changes and you've got a game ready to steamroll into the market.
-- lol that's a first, (someone promoting it instead of attacking it)
Thank you for that Tactical,
usually this topic brings out the flame-wars fast,
(hence why I phrased it in a way so that I wouldn't have to come back and try 'explaining' it lol,
there's a reason consoles were popular and many people seem to forget they had tons of 'top down' games).
Thanks for that
(I noticed they went for the WASD thing, that's not too bad (far better than moving with mouse clicking), but I do hope they put in full controller support, then it would cater to both markets and nobody can complain)
**TWO WORDS** CONSOLE SCRUB! (Not every game needs a controller or works with one!)
and do..
A Controller/Keyboard combo has it's advantages: sitting back, chilling in the chair controller in hand playing hours on end relaxed, no back strain from trying to keep your spine up right, or ending up with bad posture from sitting forward, or suffering with Repetitive Strain Injury from lmb clicking continuously; keyboard deals with character stats, inventory, game settings, toggles buffs. I've playing games like this for 33 years, back when Atarti made the 800XL and Keyboard/Controller combo was the only way, every other console had a joy stick or game pad...a controller or used short keys. ZXSpectrum+128k Commodore vic20, 64, Amiga, Atari 2600, St 520, 1040, BBC/Acorn computers, Apple stole the idea of a Mouse from the inventor Douglas Engelbart [assisted by Bill English] when investors of the 70's couldn't see it's potential when demo'ed with the first P.C setup that is followed to this day [with major changes over the years]: The Xerox Alto. By all means take a look for yourself: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001083.htm#:~:text=The%20computer%20mouse%20was%20invented%20and%20developed%20by,California,%20a%20think%20tank%20sponsored%20by%20Stanford%20University.
Controllers were being used before the mouse was even consider financially viable. Both have equal footing and both should considered available as an option; to be honest a mouse...is a x-y movement sensor, simple form 2+ button controller, with a vertical track wheel, compared to current day [xbox] controller which is a 12+ button, individual x-y anolog sticks, with additional 8 point directional pad, or a hotas flight stick, vr head sets besides, pulling off a head shot on with a mouse is easy, games with built in weapon sway can be completely over ridden with a mouse, A controller however, is a pain in the arse when it comes to aiming down sights, but, with auto aim off, movement speed adjusted, aim down sights adjusted to person's exact setting... perfected muscle memory and pay off satisfaction are there every time.
I mean yeah I phrased that topic every possible way in the steam forums for the last 5+ years,
I gave up trying to be reasonable about it seeing how m+k people attack me like religious zealots etc,
I wanted to post in here (I basically stopped posting in forums a couple of years ago, at least tried to, lol) based on the premise that this game looks really good,
reason it should try to integrate controller is because there are so many other top-downs that haven't,
basically the market is flooded with m+k top-downs it doesn't need yet another one, and since this is trying to actually be a well-rounded game (by the looks of it it has a bit of everything, grinding, surviving, crafting, combat, etc),
I wanted to kinda give them a 'boost' and help them realize having full controller support would enable it to possibly become a hit game,
I'm tired of seeing potentially great games ruin themselves by some very critical bad design decisions,
I think they already have WASD I suppose that's pretty good (WASD is a lot better than typical m+k),
we'll see what happens,
cool
Try playing World of Warcraft back when 100 skills actually was a thing with a controller.
You'd get CRUSHED.
Try to play an FPS with a controller against someone who uses a mouse+keyboard
You'd get CRUSHED.
Auto Aim was literally invented for people on consoles who use controllers because it's more difficult to get pin point accuracy with an analog controller then a mouse+keyboard.
World of Warcraft became worse because they made it simple minded where only around 8 skills mattered due to controllers.
Sorry, just NO. learn, adept, get gud.
You know what's actually better? knowing how to do both!
Lol imagine being as wrong as this. ^
