The game plays so fluidly and the controls feel so good! Lovely music and pixel art and the game is VERY GAY and I love it!

I really wish I could give this game a full-throated recommendation. The art and characters are cute and the story was a fun little jaunt, but the gameplay itself is... really lacking.

Act 1 is cribbing Mario 3's gameplay extremely hard, and it suffers for the comparison since it just isn't doing it as well. Hitboxes can be janky, especially during bosses, and level design is hit or miss - a lot of jumping between one tile platforms, for instance, which is just a pain most of the time. It's at its best when you get to use the unique powerups.

Act 2 is better. You play through the same game but with a character with a more interesting and evolving moveset, which is satisfying to learn and experiment with. Sadly it is still hurt by the hitbox and level design problems, and it comes at the cost of most of the fun powerups, but it is better.

I'd like to see a game that took some of the best concepts here, like the fun world with interesting enemy designs, and made it all its own. Sadly, this... is bad Mario 3. At least it has lesbians.
