I've finished the first game a few years ago and I heard this one added Honoka's route. I liked her a bit in the first game so I figured I'd do her route first before replaying the first game and doing the after stories. It was unfortunately disappointing.

They started to portray her as some sort of manipulative person who thought of her employees as "pawns", except not really, and it seemed like they were going for an "I'll make myself look like a terrible person so you'd hate me" kind of thing and then... it just went nowhere? I thought that when she confessed, we'd have been able to call her out and finally get her to be genuine since it really didn't feel like a romantic scene, but nope. It's now the ending choice where you either end up with her or the dog (yes, the protagonist, a woman, can somehow end up with the female dog and have six human-dog children, no I'm not making this up), which I really thought would come later instead of now. In my opinion, they should've given us a choice to choose Honoka again in the middle of the dog's route (there's a scene where Honoka apologizes and genuinely confesses again which felt way more romantic than her first confession) instead of continuing to stay with the damn dog, but nope.

It had the potential to be good but unfortunately it wasn't. Her route and behavior was confusing, and saying "she's childish" just doesn't cut it. It felt like such a cop-out response and it just doesn't make any sense or really explain anything. But maybe it's just me being a moron as usual and having the point go over my head.

Honoka's route aside, there are "after stories" which is pretty much a short continuation of the routes in the first game. I haven't tried them yet but I'd assume it's going to be very subjective based on which heroine you liked.

Since Honoka's route was just a huge disappointment for me, I unfortunately cannot recommend this game unless you loved someone's route in the first game, want to see more of them, and feel $49.99 ($24.99 at a sale) for 3 hours more of your favorite heroine is worth it.
