I had to do it six or more times before I got gold. One of the most interesting, too. I tried a few varieties of strategy, and eventually observed what seemed most likely to work, but perhaps more than the others, it seems to depend on the actual specifics of what happens (and how the AI behaves, which depends on what's happened), and at least with the techniques I used, it was always a close and uncertain thing....

Intriguing game, but it is difficult to read the symbols because of my presbyopic. That is the fancy term for being old and having eyes unable to focus on tiny print or things too close to your face. This is not to be confused with presbyterianism, which affects your vision in a different way....

So far I've played as Eastern Margraves and Gesh and the landmarks I've seen seem really not worth it to me. Both had sites that when completed gave a +100-150 to something, that would take 20ish turns to complete. And that's excluding the time it will take to gather the 20K-ish labour. EM had one that gave circumstantial bonuses only valid in a specific region. Such as once you met the conditions of your faction and win, on that win screen there could be an option to quit or keep playing and the player can see how far they can go? It wouldn't be hard to implement.
