Moira’s journey to the lighthouse offers a beautiful cartoon depiction of the Scottish Highlands that invites you to explore it, a sense of momentum carrying you from one peak to the next, always that drive to discover what’s waiting after your next climb, learning the rich, personal history of the land you’re walking on and the people who once lived on it, in bits and pieces hidden for you to discover. It’s a rare experience, the simple gameplay loop of climbing and running and the occasional rhythm section serving to keep you hooked as you uncover the story. A good example of games as art, I think. The way some items are randomly placed on the map means you might find items you need to perform certain actions only after you can no longer go back to do them, but since you get to keep your inventory on subsequent runs, this problem is only a mild inconvenience, and you'll be doing many runs anyway. It took me 10 to get all achievements.
