Game is dead, 21 playing. WHens the F2P version coming out?

so Like the outer day as saw the game was recomended to me to play but it looks like its dead in the water it looks dang cool and I saw the discored so I was wondering if it was worthe playing or if like we can slap 8 or so players together to play it?

Steamcharts and Steamdb both say there are literally 0 players right now. Do people show up during weekends or is it always dead?
