i am excited ! i hope Omega replaces the steam release and i don't gotta pay for it again.

I hope it's an update. I'll not buy another game from this #$%^&

It's only fair to keep a heavy dose of skepticism seeing how the last time was handled.
We'll see how it goes, observing from afar.

Do current owners get this?

"Reference to Cube World Alpha, because I’d like to develop it in the spirit of that version" IF this means this will be Cube World as it should have been and exactly like the Alpha then I'm excited.

Agreed. He's said before that it'd be like an "Alpha mode" in some of the emails that were shared in the past, so I'm fairly confident in my belief that it will just be supplementary or a complete replacement of the current system. I don't know though, unfortunately we're not insiders ;)

He listened, and changed. As long as I don't have to pay for it AGAIN, imma play it for sure and probably invite my friends to buy the game,

Not a fan of the UI, personally. I find the current UI has enough character, whereas this new one looks like it could be from any game. Sure, the new one could do with some refinement, but a complete overhaul? But that's just me. Entirely possible that I'll prefer the new one when I actually get to use it.

I'm also worried about what this might mean for controller support, tho. Currently, I wouldn't say playing with a controller is perfect, but it's good enough that I never grab my mouse for anything, even though the cursor is all over the place with a controller. Again, that's something that could surely do with refinement, so I hope it isn't completely scrapped.

All in all, the return of experience and skills is the way to go. That's what the community wanted all along, so yay! I also hope world generation gets an overhaul, cuz currently it's very possible to be locked out of artefacts due to how buildings spawn in the world, making entering them impossible.

Also I forgot to mention, I hope this update will come out in a few months, not years.

I second this. Regardless of what it brings, I don't think anyone's willing to wait for years. It's already been 3 years and a few months since the game came out on Steam. We waited long enough.

Yeahhhh not buying omega if thats what they are trying to pull for current owners.

Considering that the blog post states "I'm also planning to bring back experience, leveling and skill trees for this version", I think it's safe to say that's gonna be an update rather than a new game.
