Played on Steam Deck.

Definitely deserves to stand shoulder to shoulder with Slay the Spire, mostly just by adding a bit of complexity. Not just taking one character on a run but combining two decks; there's not just one battle to worry about but three floors. Monster Train feels like the first worthy successor to StS. It's hard, it's complicated, there's a LOT of combinations to play, it works flawlessly on Steam Deck. Not sure why it's a train though, and since the setting is a train why are there three vertical floors and not three train cars where the enemies would come in at the caboose and the game would scroll left to right instead of up and down.... that's really the only issue I have with the game at all.
