The Game succeeded in doing exactly what it set out to do. It meant to authentically adapt D&D 5E's ruleset into a videogame and provide a toolset for people to make their own custom campaigns/levels. That on it's own is enough to get a thumbs up from me. If that appeals to you, and you don't mind some ugly NPCs, I'd say this game is worth picking up.

For me, the more I play it, the more I find that 5E is generally not a very good base line for video games. It lacks depth and without a DM to provide rulings and stretch what WotC wrote for rules, the system is kind of dull and not very engaging. I would love to see this studio do something with a game that has a more robust set of rules because they are very capable of adapting TTRPGs well and giving players the tools to make custom content.

The game has a lot of very ambitious and very unique ideas. I really enjoy it's faithfulness to the more looked over utility spells and abilities in DnD like games.
I especially liked creating 4 characters for your party. You can even give them certain personalities to generate personalized dialogue throughout the campaign.
That being said, due to the high ambitions of the dialogue and character creation system it can lead to some awkward and unintentionally funny moments. Certain dialogue lines will not meet the mood, there's voice changes mid conversation, and many non-sequitur interjections. Lots of cutscenes also have the characters just awkwardly standing next to each other.
If the game had a better direction in writing and "cinematography" it could've been much better, but it's uniqueness is enough to keep me playing.

Better paced than Baldur's Gate 3, and a better introduction to D&D 5e for a newcomer to that system. A great value buy.
