I wouldn't say that the story grew on me - I can't say I was invested in any of Solasta content from the narrative perspective, but the campaigns were well paced. Just enough story interactions for the combat and exploration to not feel repetitive.
I really curious to see how the sequel will turn out, as there is clearly a lot that could be improved. I hope they build on combat and exploration that they had in S1.
I think it has to do with it's simplicity...CRPG'S have become bloated...There's just too much leveling, reading and broken story path choices. Just played through Rogue Trader and Solasta made me so happy that I didn't need to level up every 10 minutes. Not to mention spend 20 minutes reading though each talent and checking to see if weapons and items aligned with them. Was O.K. but was glad when it was over.
Solasta you just play. Combat is the focus...It brings back the old school addicitivness I use to have of easy playing without the pretentious convoluted lore and stat stacking. Simple like Dragon Age: Origins....
I hope they don't make the same mistake PoE 2 made and keep it simple, combat focused and cozy. Just improve the story and graphics a bit and make the main campaign a lot longer.
This Exactly
Not sure I liked how the last area played out with no rest areas. I like the idea, but to throw it in at the end was kinda stupid as I finally got in the habit of not saving spell slots because of excessive fire pits.
Also, I went back through again saving everything...didn't know the second part was turn sensitive lol...did not need to reload a save at all....would've made it with my no spell save slot....
Otherwise a pretty damn good game. It has it's problems but I feel they nailed gameplay better than most AAA devs with only the voice acting and story really suffering.
May buy all the DLC and definitly can't wait for Solasta 2
