Overall, wouldnt recommend it. The game play gets old pretty fast. The story is fine. Didnt have any memorable characters. Had to push myself to finish it. 5/10

I can respect how important this game was for thriller and horror games, especially given its release date. But... This is a bad game. The gameplay mechanics are some of the laziest I have ever seen. In a story-driven narrative, running through hours of dodging, flashlight-ing, and then shooting enemies 3 times exactly--in that exact order--gets old fast. There is no change to this whatsoever. Any puzzles are pretty straight ahead and don't require much thinking. The story is fine. Alan's inner dialogue makes sense, but it feels very cliche.

The setting is wonderful; the PNW Twin Peaks/X Files vibe is great. I think we can hold Alan Wake in high regards historically without ever needing or wanting to play it again for its extremely aged and dated mechanics, voice acting, storyline, and graphics.
