It's a fairly simple platformer with some very basic puzzle solving sort of fetch quest type mechanics thrown in. So it fits the adventure game realm I would say.

It's more about telling this sort of, dry humor story that is a parody of the bureaucratic world we live in.

There is a demo that gives you an idea as to what kind of platforming elements you can expect I would try that, and if it doesn't click with you, then yeah I would pass on it.

The platforming elements to it are incredibly simple though, and it's a short game so I think even if you have an issue with platformers generally you would probably be able to endure this regardless.

My issue is, I've absolutely adored Kafka's books since I was a teen and loved adventure games since even before then - but I'm terrible at jumping and therefore try to avoid platformers, they are usually basically a torture for me. Will I enjoy Metamorphosis?

Our main goal was to create a perfect Kafka's world. But just like Echorion said - it's hard to even for us to say what exact genre it is. Let's say it's a Kafkormer game! :D

I'm terrible with platformers but I found the game fine. It took a while to get the hang of it but once I got used to it, the game wasn't too punishing. There are a few places that require precision that I found frustrating but there's a lot of solving problems and coming up with strategies rather than just jumping around. Usually when you fall you get deposited fairly close to where you were so you don't lose a lot of progress.

I am absolutely frustrated that I can't skip a liquid-walk after 10 failed tries or so. Am running out of liquids, i.e. at the drawer-climbing-part with the certificate. About to delete this game - just because of that. It's a pity because I'd like to enjoy the story and unique atmosphere. But pls. add a choice like 'easy mode' for folks who aren't good in platforming. Camera makes it difficult also in ego-perspective. Feel dizzy after a short while.

Edit: managed to proceed after all. Tried to switch to PS5 controller, but it didn't work. Playing on steam deck.

There is a jumping section there. If you get past through it, you should be fine:)

Metamorphosis is a bit of a hybrid trying to blend adventure with some arcade elements, and it would actually be very interesting to hear how it fares for you.
