Looks like I am writing the first review for this game. Thats a first for me too.

After playing the demo, I have been looking forward to this. It has some pretty good elements and it is a great way to escape competitive games and relax a bit. As I thought first, and then the game send you ghosts, mushroom heads, starvation, night scares every 2 seconds therefore my reaction time levelled up quite a lot.

The game itself is quite fun, but I suggest to finish the tutorial as there are a few elements which are unusual and needs explaining, then you are good to go. Looking back the first 2 hours of the demo, I had so much fun it felt like I have played 10 minutes and then I was kicked out of the trial.

Looking forward the progression of this game and the content.

It’s Banished, but Slavic, featuring a host of hostile creatures to make your life hell. I’d even go as far as saying it’s a top-down perspective Aska, splitting itself between military and villager management, to deliver a high pressure city builder RTS survival hybrid – The most unique game to enter the genre since Against the Storm.


🟩 Pros:

+ Aesthetically and visually gorgeous
+ 'Maintain minimum' for resources is a massive QOL feature
+ The tutorial is an absolute must due to the complex mechanics
+ 8x - 16x game speed counterbalances the otherwise slow pacing
+ Building upgrades feel meaningful, creating clear progression goals
+ Blood Moons & Forest Vengeance (hostility) events create a sense of urgency
+ RTS elements such as varied unit types (melee, ranged and magic), control groups and unit skills
+ The bestiary is reminiscent of Witcher, and is crucial for defeating newly encountered enemies
+ Individual villagers have unique stats and customisable priorities, adding an additional layer to settler management

🟥 Cons:

- Bugs
- Even 'Easy' difficulty is hard
- The enemy AI could be too aggressive for some players
- Cannot place building foundations if a settler is in the way
- The constant pressure from Blood Moons and minimal downtime could overwhelm some players
- Enemies spawn too frequently early on, and ghosts can feel disproportionately powerful during the opening moments

🏷️ Suggestions:

~ Expand the RTS elements by introducing diverse factions, or including hero units with powerful skills
~ The developers mentioned adding custom sessions, this is a must for accessibility and longevity, especially with the current difficulty curve


With a heading like that, you’d assume I’m making a sexual innuendo, and if you knew me in person, you’d be right. However, I am in fact referring to the never-ending onslaught of monsters which Night is Coming (NC) throws your way. The glowing red eyes which appear in the darkness enforce a sense of constant danger, a feeling of always being watched, create a chilling atmosphere.

The simplest way to describe NC would be to compare the city building to the likes of Banished or Manor Lords. This is primarily due to the resource types, how they are gathered, processed, consumed, along with how they interact with one another. The city builder elements aren’t the primary focus however, rather, they work in conjunction with the RTS and survival elements to deliver a unique experience.

The survival elements remind me of much harder version of Against the Storm, especially the Blood Moons and Forest Vengeance. As you progress, the game changes, creating a unique experience every time you play – I love this unpredictability! Similarly, the settler management aspects remind me of Aska, with each settler having unique stats and customisable priorities – I love this simplicity!


As an RTS, you’ve a variety of units and a variety of enemies, each requiring different approaches to overcome. Add to that the addition of a variety of spells, and you’ve a genuinely engaging balancing act between balancing combat and production, warriors and workers. Where NC fails however, is in its difficulty.

It’s a new game, and my opinion may change over time, but for now, I need to buy some lubricant cause NC didn’t take it easy on me. Even on ‘Easy’, the game is difficult – Either through how little time there is between Blood Moons or how tough enemies can be early on. Spells help somewhat, but it does feel unfair, almost demoralizingly so.

Why do I recommend it if I find it so hard you wonder? The sound and visual designs are a treat, the gameplay is familiar yet unique, and despite the difficulty, I am having fun learning everything there is to learn. While not as good as Against the Storm, for me at least, it plays just as uniquely and brings a fresh experience to the genre. In saying that, if you’re after an approachable city builder RTS survival hybrid, keep it on your wishlist until custom sessions are included.

Another early access game with massive potential, we see plenty of these:) It's a survival RTS game that takes place in a medieval fantasy slavic/eastern europe setting.

The game has 2 major problems: it looks very bad with very fuzzy and unclear graphics, the grass and trees seem bought out of an asset store and they are very blurry. The second problem is that you don't have much control over the villagers, it can take 3-4-5-6 clicks to do simple things and the villagers need a lot of baby siting.
The gameplay loop is not bad but the game has 3 difficulties and none of them are balanced or fun.
Pros: hybrid management and real time control of soldiers, buildings look nice, progession is slow but you really see it happne
Cons: blurry, janky, weird looking at points, not a balanced difficulty, can take forever to get anywhere, controls are not good, controlling villagers is too hard.
There doesn't seem to be any difference between the demo and the release version wich is very concerning.
I will give this game a negative review because i saw they paid streamers and youtubers to promote their game even thought they are early access.
This game seems like one of those projects that "We will finish the game if it sells well in the first month"....it won't sell well at all. Big red flag, don't buy if you expect it to make rapid progress in development.
