Campaign Weather Overhaul (includes The Old World Map)

Description
Mod is fully compatible with Immortal Empires Expanded, and The Old World map, but place mine first in the load order!

*Screenshots are very outdated, will upload new one soon*

INTRODUCTION
This mod is a complete overhaul of campaign map lighting and weather. I have created and added more than 200 new environments, with more than 60 new weather effects for Realms of Chaos, Immortal Empires, Immortal Empires Expanded and The Old World map. This mod puts visuals and immersion over gameplay, so some areas might not be visually optimal for everyone.

I highly recommend using Improved Campaign Camera mod.

THE OLD WORLD

The Empire
Foggier and gloomier than vanilla (especially Middenland and the Drakwald), with areas of intermittent rain. The southern areas are sunnier. The eastern and nothern areas have some light snowfall and a colder feel. The Middle Mountains have stronger snowfall. Grey and Black Mountains are under moderate snowfall.

Sylvania
Gloomy, spooky, foggy, dark and full of bats!

Bretonnia
Generally dry and sunny. The northern Marches are rainy. Forests have slight leaf fall. Mousillon is gloomy and rainy. The Coast of Lyonesse is misty.

Athel Loren
Magical, verdant forest with perpetual and abundant leaf fall and magical spores.

Southern Realms
The Border Princes are generally cloudy or with slight rainfall. Tilea is bright and sunny, Estalia too but it has a more arid feel. Sartosa is shrouded in fog and is rainy. The peaks of the Vaults are ravaged by violent gusts of snow.

Skavenblight
Dark, putrid and bug-ridden, with intermittent heavy rainfall.

Kislev
Under perpetual snowfall. In the south, snowfall is mild. Central areas are under abundant but gentle snowfall. Troll Country is ravaged by violent gusts. The north-east is under a more violent snow storm.

Norsca
An inhospitable, violent, frozen wasteland, ravaged by a blizzards or moderate snowfall.

Albion
Heavy perpetual rain, fog and some magical spores.

World's Edge Mountains
The north is under intense snowfall that gets milder moving south. In the Badlands area, they have an arid and/or vulcanic feel.

The Badlands
Bright and dry, except the Marshes of Madness that have a swampy feel.

THE NEW WORLD

Nehekhara
Dry and arid. The Black Pyramid and the Tower of Arkhan have some ghostly presence.

Araby
Bright, scorching desert.

Southlands Jungles
Sunnier but steaming jungles. Some areas are under moderate rain. Zlatlan is hidden by moderate fog. The Cape is misty and with light rain.

Lustria
Generally inhospitable and hostile. Isthmus is sunnier and with light rain. The northwest of Lustria has a swampy, fetid and bug-ridden feel. The central areas are darker and under heavy tropical rain. The Vampire Coast is dark, foggy and rainy. Xlanhuapec is shrouded in mist and Culchan Plains are sunny. Coastal deserts are dry and bright and the the Cape is misty and with light rain.

Ulthuan
Nagarythe is dark and barren. Eataine, Tiranoc and Ellyrion are peaceful paradises. Avelorn and Chrace are sunny and verdant. Vauls Anvil is vulcanic. Saphery is sunny and with magical embers. Cothique is misty and with light rain. Yvresse is shrouded by a thick mist.

Naggaroth
Titan Peaks are vulcanic. The coastal and central areas gloomy and under moderate/heavy rainfall. Obsidian peaks are ashy and vulcanic, Iron Mountains are cold and with light snowfall. The western deserts are scorching and bright. The northern tundra is blinding and under heavy snowstorms and blizzards.

THE EAST

Darklands
Hellish feel. North and centre have ember sparks and ash rising. The south is less hellish and more arid, with ashfall. The Mouth of River ruin is putrid.

Nagashizzar
Dark, rainy, with ghostly spirits and bats.

Dragon Isles
Primal and savage, under a violent tropical monsoon.

Mountains of Mourn
The south has slight snowfall. Central Mourn have heavier snowfall and violent gusts of snowstorm. Firemouth is vulcanic. The Great Maw has a putrid feel. The north has a glacial, ice-age feel and under a perpetual blizzard. Down south, the Haunted forest and Gnoblar country are gloomy.

Cathay
Warpstone desert is a corrupted green-tinted wasteland. Gunpowder Road is dull and ashy. Weijin is bright and magical. The Celestial Riverlands are a peaceful paradise. Eastern coast is misty and under moderate rainfall. The Forest of the Moon has a nightly, Yin, lunar feel. The Broken Lands of Tian Li are a frigid plateau with slight snowfall. The Mountains of Heaven have a cold feel and abundant, gentle snowfall. The southern jungles are steaming and rainy.

"Korea"/Khosun (in IEE)
The south is rainy and misty. The north, towards the Wastes, has both rain and ashfall.

OCEANS

Galleons Graveyard
Under a violent, windy, oceanic storm.

General
Areas of the Great Ocean, Far Sea, and Sea of Dread have varying degrees of mist and rain.

N. CHAOS WASTES

Khorne Themed
Blood Marshes, Bloodfire Falls and Blood Mountain all have very Khorne themed environments with a redder tint, embers, ash, blood rain and some snow (depending on the region)

Tzeentch Themed
Plain of Illusions and the area around the Silvered Tower of Sorcerers have a bluer tint, slight snowfall and magical embers floating about.

Nurgle Themed
Kdatha and Noisome Tumor have a putrid feel, with a greener tint, toxic spores and flies. The former also has maggots crawling on the ground.

Arctic Themed
Eternal Lagoon and the Cold Mire have generic arctic feel and are ravaged by a violent blizzard. The latter has a slight purple tint due to the presence of the Palace of Princes.

S. CHAOS WASTES

Icefire Plains
As the name suggests, a hellish land ravaged by both fire embers and ashes as well as snow.

Southern Wastes, Abyssal Glacier & Daemonium Hills
Chaotic and arctic feel, with both ash fall and violent gusts of snowstorm.

COMPATIBILITY
Compatible with everything that doesn't affect the campaign weather files. Fully compatible with all the Forestry mods

Ultimate Lighting 2.0: it's fully compatible as long as you place my mod before his in the load order (put mine above). This way, both work properly!

SPECIAL THANKS
To CA for creating this massive game.
To Frodo45127 for creating Rusted PackFile Manager.
To Mazisky for his initial tips and for his visual mods that gave me the idea to start exploring the game files myself and discover all their weathery potential.

The intermittent rain is Empire is a great idea, and I hope you apply that same precedent everywhere. It's much more dynamic and immersive when you can see the weather fluctuating.

This and the battle weather overhaul are always must-have mods even when I'm playing vanilla, because without them the base game's atmosphere feels nothing like Warhammer Fantasy (i.e. a dark fantasy world)

Another quick update with some tweaks here and there.
- trying out intermittent rain in the Empire. Both the area of the Great Forest and the area between Reikland and Marienburg will have heavy rain that comes and goes.
- Made Athel Loren a bit brighter
- The Shadowlands in the far north of the Steppes are darker too.
- Souther Khosun has a cooler feel and is now rainless.
- The Gunpower Road in Cathay (Nan Gau area) has a cooler feel now and better blends with the Steppes beyond the Bastion. Weijin is instead still bright, sunny and magical
- Completely changed the Forests of the Moon in Cathay. Grew tired of the nightly feel i tried giving it as it wasn't really how intended it to be and didnt blend with the rest. It is now daytime and sunny, but it has a cooler, more misty and mountainous feel compared to the rest of Cathay, and has a very peaceful and mystical vibe. It still has magical blue embers as well as tranquil pink (cherry blossom) leaves falling and floating in the wind.

IEE UPDATE
With the recent amazing update to the IEE map, I’ve gone back and modified, remade from scratch or retweaked a lot of those areas to better fit with the now fantastic, upgraded visuals as well as the additional land added. Big thanks to all their contributors who are maping this map so good! Here’s a list of changes:

IND
The Mountains of Heaven are now frigids peaks under snowfall. The northern peaks are darker and with heavier snow, central and southern peaks are brighter and with milder snowfall.
In Ind proper, the western desert is bright and sunny, the southern jungles are steaming and lush with bugs flying around. The main river delta is now under intermittent heavy rainfall and has a mistier feel.
The Eastern Isles are now bright and sunny except for the more distant Tor Elasor, still under some light rain.

KHOSUN
The south is lush and brighter though under some light rainfall. The north has a colder feel and is under more intense rain.

EASTERN STEPPES
This whole area I remade entirely from scratch, rebuilding the environment mosaic and adding lots of new areas.
The areas north of the Mountains of Mourn have a cold feel and are under mild snowfall. To the north, the area where Rasputia lies is again under mild snowfall. The Red Wastes are distinctly...red. The vast central plains are windy and dry, but heavy intermittent rains appear in the steppes farther north and east. The distant north-east is under heavy snowfall, but the further northern reaches, where lie the Shadowlands and neighboring areas, there is a strong magical and chaotic feel.

NORTHERN NAGGAROTH
The new areas added in the far reaches north (and including) of the Ironfrost Glacier are under a heavy blizzard with more limited visibility.
John Matrix  [author] 30 Aug @ 3:13am
LUMBRIA
Fabled Lumbria lies hidden shrouded in mist.

SOME OTHER TWEAKS
Made the Southland jungles sunnier but also more humid and steamier.
Outside of the very rain central jungles, Lustria is slightly brighter, especially the Culchan Plains.
Southern Nippon is distinctly sunnier than the central and especially northern areas that are darker and under rainfall.
Tilea is also sunnier.
The Iron Mountains in Naggaroth have a colder feel and better blend with the northern tundras.
The Lost Isles of Elithis are now still shrouded in mist, but are now even more of a tropical lush and sunny paradise.
