Here's sample of a set i'm working on currently from a community idea.
"The Unwelcome Surprise"
level 5 bayonet
-15% base charge rate for sniper rifle
-10% fire rate
instantaneous weapon switch between primary and this weapon
longer reach
A length of lead pipe for the scout as a bat. With a style that has barbed wire around the end.
If you want a throwable projectile with it I'd recommend a ball bearing.
It's simple, they could have picked it up on the battlefield, has a reputation as one of the best makeshift weapons out there and would fit the scout's character and the tf2verse.
By the way, here's a quick concept-art of that "Corporal Punishment" I told you about.[files.myfrogbag.com] I know you said it screams set piece but for the life of me I'm struggling to come up with a proper set for it.
I generally try to avoid the "strapped together" style of items cuz if its not done well and doesn't make sense, it appears too contrived and tacked on to be a good idea. Also, these tropes are generally relegated to the pyro and probably some on the engie. Nice attempt though and could be interesting for some people to make.
the gumblaster! it looks like a flare gun (painted gold) with a glass ball full of gumballs!
A hole on an existing hat will not work. You have to diffirentiate your item from another existing item
