The Barbarian Invasions - Special Chapter - Conquest of Germany

Description
Special chapter of the campaign "The Barbarian Invasions". This chapter will deal with the conquest of Germany by the Romans. Of course I tried to be as precise as possible in the place where the Germanic peoples lived once. It will be a country where they will fight very Germanic and sell dearly for their territories. But as history tells us that not all people were subdued, this aspect has been respected.

I hope you like it, I worked hard to create beautiful events to accomplish.

A applaud user CarloV3r for the perfect realization of the game map. Really beautiful to see! I thank him once again for his map as it has inspired me a lot for the development of this campaign.

In the end ... Enjoy!

Let me know if there are technical problems of any kind and I will provide to risolveri thanks.

Now all AI files are included along with the campaign to simplify things.

V 1.1:

1) Fix small bugs
2) Add new AI for all factions

Whew! Yes! Save Often!

I finally beat this scenario, "The Barbarian Invasions - Conquest of Germany". When I try to play it in a straightforward way, its last objective overwhelms my computer with Lag and players are divided on whether they reached the kill count before eliminating the enemy. If they did not reach the count, then they couldn't win, as there were no enemies left.

To win, I picked the choice to take out the aqua base before moving onto the final objective, which the instructions say is to kill 10,000 Orange and Purple enemies (Vandals and Goths). When I start on that last objective, I get destroyed by Lag. I checked the Editor and it turns out that I only need to reach 10,000 kills, and there is no specification in the Editor as to which enemies I must kill. So in order to win, I reloaded a savegame from when I was still fighting the aqua player and it was sending a stream of enemy units at me. Then I set a round of castles and towers on the edge of the aqua base.

At that point, I had about 5000 kills and was 5 hours into gameplay. I left my game running and stepped away from the computer for about 5 hours of game time while the computer sent a steady stream of aqua units into my castles, until the kill count of aqua units and all units killed total reached 10,000. This was at about 10 total hours of gameplay. Then I destroyed the Aqua base, and the game gave me a Victory soon afterward. Here is a Victory Screenshot:

I tried again on Moderate, and beat the Green, Yellow, and Aqua enemies. Fighting Aqua was good because it raised my kill count. According to the Editor, you just need to reach 10,000, regardless of the units' team. I got the Green Player to ally with me and not resign.
I don't think that realistically I can skip fighting Yellow. The Designer set a trigger where as soon as Player 4 (Yellow) is defeated, aqua Player 5 gets tons of resources and his gate is unlocked. And only when Macromani is defeated, does the trigger end. After defeating Aqua, it says that now my goal is to kill 10,000 enemies. Then a stream of aqua units came from the Lower right. According to the triggers, it generates units for 300 seconds.

When I am ready to fight in the NE after defeating Aqua, clicking the Blue Outpost gives reinforcements. Next, I fortified my red wall in the east with castles, expecting an invasion like Yellow had sent. But the Orange and Purple AI stayed relatively passive instead of attacking my wall, and my computer started lagging badly after a while, probably due to the total units on the map. I reached 4500 total kills out of the required 10,000 at that point.

Playing another round on Moderate, I built a thick wall of castles and towers on my side of the long red wall in the east of the map for when the Goths and Vandals would attack. I expected that they would invade in a stream of enemies like the chatti had done. In other words, they would churn out a steady stream of enemies and send them to my wall. But instead, they were relatively passive, and I don't know why. I mean, they did train some units at their bases, and the Designer gave them a ton of resources, but they seemed to just stay at their barracks, with like 7 guys guarding the castle or archery that trained them. I had accumulated 4500+ kills total in the game, and the victory trigger said that I needed to accumulate a total of 10,000. At this point my Lenovo laptop from about 2010 started badly lagging.

This Scenario is so hard that I want to give a WALKTHROUGH for struggling players. I am basing this on what I found helpful to get up to the FInal FIght:
Your blue Roman ally's bridge is directly Northeast of the mass of legions that you start with.
About the time that you would find the bridge, a mass of German grey soldiers heads toward your NW Town Center from the direction of the bridge.
The left side of the middle of the "C" bend in the river to the right of your starting peninsula has not only a good place for a fishing dock, but a patch of woods worth noticing. On the left edge of that woods patch, a group of grey enemies will spawn, and you can put a tower, monastery, siege factory and houses there to either block the spawning or be ready to fight them.

(Walkthrough Continued)
SW of the Blue gate there is another wood patch. On the patch's SW side, another mass of grey enemies spawns, like when you reveal that area or the bridge.
Have your forces ready to cross the bridge when you meet your goal of training about 80 troops, because a battle on the other side then begins.
The Green forces have a mix of swordsmen, crossbowmen, and pikemen. It seems that a mix of siege weapons, knights, armored cavalry, foot soldiers/legions, and monks is best.
There are two Green gates, with two towers on each side of them, to the green base on the left side of the red tents when you first cross the blue bridge. One of the gates is north of the stone mine that you find NW of the red tents. You don't have to bother with that northern gate, because three Town Centers are through the left gate instead. The fourth Town Center is southwest through the solid palisade wall that lies southeast of the leftward green gate.

(Walkthrough Continued)
First conquer the 3 bases to the left of the leftward green gate, and put a castle between the three Green flags in the middle of that leftward green base. That way, when you conquer the fourth Green TC, Green will ally instead of resigning.
Chatti will attack the red wall that you discover in the upper right once you discover it, so wait until you defeat the Green forces before going that way. Build a castle to the left of the red gate and build a few towers there. Build a second wall lying right next to the red wall and shoot over the red wall with archers.
After you attack the yellow forces on the east side of the red wall and cross the Yellow player's bridge into his main map area, use alot of villagers to build a castle etc. near the east side of the narrow palisade hall. A stream of Yellow units will attack you there. You will need a mass of siege units, monks, and other units to take down the Yellow base.

On the HARD Difficulty, almost half my 150 soldiers got ground up in their attack on the first of the four Green Town Centers. The yellow forces broke through the red wall before I destroyed more Town Centers. The setup makes me think that the Yellow forces are not supposed to do this, at least until you beat the Green forces. I say that because when I tried to send a scout through the red wall's gate, that gate would not open due to being locked. It took me almost 4 hours to get to that point.

The Designer said it's a long and hard mission so to save often. It seems like "Hard" is a wrong difficulty for this mission due to the numerous AI enemies being so strong, the Designer saying that he made the map Hard, the map's giant size, and the glitch that prevented me from reloading my savegames.
