Steam transaction error
Every time i try to add funds to my steam wallet this error:

There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance.

appears and as a result i fail utterly in trying to do it successfuly.

Anybody else experiencing same issues right now?
Any ideas?

Just because no one responded to the first thread within 22 minutes?

Please wait a minute, or contact Steam Support.

Use a VPN? Disable (or uninstall) it.

I've already written a post adressing this issue to support.
Additionaly, what's important, I already was struggling some time ago to realize actions of this kind via steam basically due to the same problems. Fortunately I could actually complete such a transaction without problems after an hour since I've failed for the first time in contrast to the current case, considering that this error is still present every time I try to do this :/

VPNs and proxy services aren't allowed under Steam's subscriber agreement.
Wasn't implying they are; was asking if OP is using one as the supposed country changed.

Also they are allowed, but not for disguising the residence.

You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to circumvent geographical restrictions on game content, to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography, or for any other purpose

Or for any purpose is related to the lines after 'whether'.

What other use would they have in this situation?
I.e. School.

Your country or state doesn't have to change with that.

But it comes after 'to disguise the place of your residence' ... 'for any purpose'.

Therefore, if the former doesn't happen, the latter isn't part of it.

Not trying to start a fight, but re-read it.

Perhaps I'm wrong, but I'm literally reading it as 'example A, example B' as it comes after 'whether to' as in to add to the former line of "disguise the place of your residence"

'For NO REASON should you disguise the place of your RESIDENCE.' is the closing argument after the examples. Definition of residence is likely country or state in this context. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Residence

Back ontopic now, if possible?

This kind of a VPN isn't allowed anyway.

Doesn't matter. It basically says 'you can't use it for this, or this, or anything else for that matter'. The examples are just for emphasis. Any other purpose is any other purpose, no matter how you look at it.
The phrasing technically has the "for any other purpose" relating "to disguise the place of your residence".

To break up the use of commas:
You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence, whether to
  • circumvent geographical restrictions on game content
  • to purchase at pricing not applicable to your geography
  • or for any other purpose

I'm reading that as To Disguise The Place of Your Residence For Any Other Reason Than The Reasons We Have Listed.

Although I do understand what you mean, Spawk, but for "or for any other purpose" to mean using VPNs/IP proxying at all then another "or" needs to be in place of the comma between "game content" and "to purchase at pricing".

While not the exact same error message, does it make a difference if you try to make the purchase in Big Picture Mode; or while using another web-browser / computer?

Whatever the purpose, it still goes against the first thing stated in the agreement, namely: 'You agree that you will not use IP proxying or other methods to disguise the place of your residence', which you will always be doing with a VPN or proxy service.
99% of the time, yes. :-)
Tev 17 Jul, 2015 @ 3:29pm
But the theoretical 1% is still an exception to the rule!

Definition of residence is rather large. Like the wikipedia page I posted before suggests, and my first example of 'school' blocking such connections for example.

Not saying bypassing school's restrictions is a good way to go either though.

Anyway, I'm seriously done now. This is adding too much to OP's thread where we're not really even discussing his/her issue anymore. Let's just agree to disagree if all else fails. :)
