XCOM 2
Camera Zoom keep resetting.[FIXED] [FIX POSTED]
Hi, the camera keeps resetting the Zoom Out levels(I like to play with max zoom out), every time I fire at the enemy, or after overwatch and attacking enemies.

I know this must be a new bug because this didn't happen in vanilla. Thanks. :xcom2specialist:

EDIT:
Solution have been posted !!:

Ok, so I fixed myself editing the WOTC camera ini ( *\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Config\DefaultCamera.ini ).

READ ME FIRST: Keep in mind that below solution will have Max Zoom Out the whole game as default, and you cannot Zoom In anymore. Unless you make your own changes in the ini file as mentioned below.

Now the camera is fixed for me at max zoom, here are the lines I changed and comments about the values and changes below each line:

Line in ini file: ZoomedDistanceFromCursor=2600

Comment: This value '2600' is the default MAX Zoom Out of the game XCOM 2 Vanilla and WOTC. Keep this number at '2600', unless you want to be able to Zoom Out even more. For me the default '2600' is more than enough.

Line in ini file: DistanceFromCursor=1256

Comment: This is the MIN Zoom Out, this '1256' value is the default minimum zoom out level, for me this value is way too close, so basically what I did is I changed this value to '2600'. So now the game starts with the Zoom Out level I like, and it does not change to the minimum Zoom Out when ever doing actions etc. It stays at this Zoom Out level always.

IMPORTANT: After changing the desired values, you have to save the file (obviously) and then set the file to "READ ONLY" under the file properties. If for whatever reasons you think you want to mess more with the file and values (like setting your own Zoom Out values for higher Zoom Outs) please backup your ini file so you can replace it if something didn't work.

Thank goodness for this thread. I was quite annoyed seeing the WotC game reset the camera distance each time while vanilla didn't.

Changing
Line in ini file: DistanceFromCursor=1256
to
Line in ini file: DistanceFromCursor=2100

was the solution for me. 2600 was a bit too much but 2100 keeps the camera on a nice position and still able to manually zoom out to 2600 when needed.

What exactly do you mean by "keeps resetting"? Resetting to what?

If I for example, zoom out with "G", to set the camera to max zoom out, then it resets to default as soon as I do anything. This was not the case in vanilla.

Hmm.. that doesn't happen to me. When I zoom out with "G" and then switch to another soldier it stays zoomed out. Just tried it. It does reset elevation changes (like with the mouse wheel) but that has always been this way.

Maybe try one of the camera mods? It's not a direct fix of the problem but maybe it helps?

Sorry I just edited my post, this is happening after attacking an enemy, I am not talking about elevation ^^ , and yes, no mods of course. Thanks. :xcom2specialist:

Alright, I'll try that too. Funnily I never use the zoom, I just increase elevation if I want to see more.

Edit: Ok, tried it. Zoomed out with "G", fired at the enemy. Am still zoomed out afterwards. No idea why it doesn't work for you.

I will do a *.ini clean up ... -.- looks like something is not right somwhere.
Nope, this is still hapening. Start the map, zoom out with "G" , max zoom out. While in concealment spotted a pod of 2 Advent troopers. Position all my soldiers. Killed an Advent trooper (while in concealment) with my sniper and rest of team (3 other soldiers) in overwatch, they manage to kill the other Advent trooper. When is my turn again, camara is back to min zoom. It is so annoying :steamsad:

Does setting this mean that you then *can't* zoom in further than that, even manually?

Any idea what the XComGame.X2Camera_Midpoint section is all about? Seems odd that the MaximumMidpointZoomOut is set to higher than 2600 by default.

Good question, I will test that today when I play. I will post my results.

I have no idea about the MidpointZoomOut. :(

Seems like it still allows you to zoom in manually. Given that the comment in the file says it controls the min level, this seems surprising, so it would be good to have confirmation that I've not made a mistake.

Thanks for posting this BTW, this is something that's really been frustrating me.

No worries man, that is why I posted this, I was getting mad too :2016roasted:

EDIT: I tried to Zoom In and I can't, well for me that is not a big deal. I like the Zoom Out, but feel free to create your custom Camera Zoom :D
