Computers in Contraption Maker
There was a thread from a little over a year ago as a gathering place for people that want to discuss logic circuits in Contraption Maker. The thread is pretty outdated now, and a lot of the linked contraptions no longer work. I want to start an updated version here.

This is where you can discuss cool logic based contraptions, and any ideas you have for building CPUs, counters, clocks, and more!

Here are some examples of current laser logic contraptions in the community:

Hi guys !

I'm very happy to see the work on logic in CM in going on !

What you still miss to move forward is an ALU, which I should have made along time ago but life being what it is, I couldn't.
So... I'm starting working on it now, hope to have some revelant results soon, I'll post evrything here.

First, after a bit of work, a laser version of the 8 bits adder.

Edit : impossible to move the balls in play mode or see the rest of the contraption ?
Not very useful in this state if it's the case. :/

With contraptions in the Workshop, people can click the "i" icon in the lower right to flip the card over. On the back they can click the pencil icon to open it up in Make Mode and play with it.

Oh perfect. It's been a while I didn't really play this game actually ^^' Loads of improvements, nice job !

Still no way to interact directly with the simulation during runtime ? Like push buttons, levers or things like that ?

We had that feature back in Alpha, but it was causing a lot of problems so we removed it. It is something we would like to bring back as an optional "advanced user feature" at some point. It would be fun to interact with things like computers in real time.

It seems like that should be doable with the modding tools you already added. The tricky part would probably just be designing an intuitive way of selecting which switch you want to flip.

Hi guys, I improved my adder, can now subtract. Select the desired operation with the lever in the middle : off will add the two operands, on will subtract.

Enjoy.

Now working on a multiplier.

8-bit reloadable counter. First draft (at least one improvement is to reduce the number of edge detectors from 8 to 1). http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=375279249
This is a version of the above counter with 7 edge detectors removed (and other minor simplifications). http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=375403929

Awesome !
Couldn't resist trying out an idea for an adder! Mixed in a couple of solar panels for OR gates. http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=375447435

Added an octal display for fun! Decided to design my own octal-7 seg decoder, but I think there are better decoders out there that are far more efficient than mine! http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=375503009
(I couldn't be bothered reminding myself of Karnaugh maps today)

I've spent a lot more time on this today than I should have! Ball Random Access Memory device: http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=375594992

Wow, you're on fire today! I need to check all these out when I get some time.
Almost got an 8x8 laser RAM working, but I think I may have run into another laser bug. Investigating!
