Melee?
Just wondering if it would be at all possible to add some kind of option to spawn in a melee item (does damage to enemies on contact) or a tool to designate a prop to be melee.

There's no valid way for me to create animations that are plug and play for various mech designs and no way for me to include them with the game's physics if I were to make physical melee weapons. Since I have no way to do them *right* within the confines of the engine limitations I won't do them at all.

I can see how creating animations for melee wouldn't work. I more had in mind a piston extension arm using tools already in the game. Thanks for the answer.

The main issue with a piston setup is that it really offers no reason to make use of it. I had thought about it already and found that just having a laser or other conventional weapon serves the same purpose but isn't limited by range. Then at this point it has already lost the whole magic of melee being able to make big swings and knock out mechs.

Maybe when the next big sandbox similar to gmod comes out on something like unreal engine I can get into some more interesting melee.
