Regarding the Enigma
Izanagi, a japanease deity. (he who invites)

-his wife died after giving birth to the fire-god Kagu-tsuchi
-Izanagi executed the fire god with the "ten-grasp sword" (Totsuka-no-Tsurugi)
This type of sword was used by deities, similar to the Excalibur.
There are also ties to Raijin (Volt), Tsukuyomi (Ash), Susanoo also the good of the storm.
He is the father of Tsukuyomi and his wife sent Raijin to kill him. am i close or did i completely miss.

Two more things:
1. -no-mikoto ending is a common honorific suffix for the names of gods, of similar meaning to "the grand, the great, the exalted". So excalibur>exalted blade>izanagis sword is the connection i got form that.

2. But i realised that Izanagi gave birth to deities of sun and moon, which got me thinking what do two of those have in common. Well, they represent night and day on Earth, so is the enigma for Excalibur/Izanagi here "Earth".

This was just a random brain fart of mine, sorry to be nagging you about this, it just got me intrigued.

Also, because of Your point that Izanagi gave birth to deities of sun and moon\day and night, it got Me thinking - could it be, that this is some easter egg, telling us that Equinox will got her skin next?
