Dear all - It is a pleasure to announce that despite the lack of siege items and AI modding options in Terry, CA's map editor, it is now possible to create siege battles that are functional with walls/towers/gates and additional with a AI that can be modified to respond and use these items. This is an accomplishment achieved by one guy, Frodo, who we would like to thank for his relentless work on getting this out to all of us. This map can be played as an example of how siege items and the AI are functioning in custom siege battles at the moment.
Now that real sieges battles are possible, the mod will move towards settlements where both unwalled and walled maps exist for a settlement combined with race specific versions. The transition towards this will take time and so will updating existing maps with siege items and AI behaviour. Why we will be adding a bit less maps to the mod over the next period of time. We would therefore also like to thank all the people that have contributed to this mod with wonderful maps, we know that the constant updates with siege items and AI options internally are requiring alterations to the maps and a lot of time to incorporate. Why we hope CA will release siege functions to Terry, as it would release time spent changing codes for actual map making.
Thanks for reading this one,
The Grand Campaign Custom Map team
The mod will slowly start to incorporate more walled settlements with functional AI, like Nuln and Everpeak. The creation of such maps is time consuming, why they will be added as they get ready. This also means that the settlement packs will be updated with these maps, which will require multiple downloads of larger size files for a single map.
We have furthermore laid the groundwork for landbattles, coding wise. This will add battles to specific settlement regions and does provides newcomers to the map making scene a chance to get involved without undertaking overwhelming settlement projects. Our discord channel is open for anyone interested. We hope you have enjoyed this work in progress mod so far - more is to come. Discord https://discord.gg/y2peTQA
