XCOM 2
Long War 2
Balancing of the classes
Maybe I am nitpicking too much, but it seems like, some classe sare way more useful than the others. For example, if I look at the ranger, it doesn´t seem like he has any standout ability. the sawed off shotgun seems nice on paper, but ultimately becomes way too underused, since you would need run and gun to make it viable. also it seems there aren´t any skills which utilieses the secondary weapon at all besides pumpgun. All the other skills this class has, are mostly the same as the other classes have, but the other classes can do them better. it feels the same with the shinobi. the only viable path here seems to be the right path, since this class heavily relies on the sword. (I´m talking just about vanilla.I know that there is a suppressor mod, which makes the other path also useful, but in my experience,it´s still worse than a reaper shinobi.)

I know the mod is in it´s early state and many may disagree, but I am open for discussion.

the left path for shinobi makes them able to complete missions with a squad of one, nice if you are low on manpower but want to do a mission that doesnt require you to kill enemies (most of them)

Funny, i find the ranger almost to powerful.
Just the first ability, to fire twice, especially once they are in a sweet spot and can act as a turret, they are death-angels.
En plus with higher weapon tiers.
The shotgun is a very good thing too, you can't use it often, but when it comes in play, it does insane damage, even the standart loadout!

Ranger is literally your best volume of fire trooper and all around damage dealer

it all comes down to playstyle. As others have noted, the ranger's ability to shoot twice is a fundamental part of some styles, the shotgun is a party trick I almost never use BUT when I need to suddenly find almost 20 ponts of damage I can use Command to get a ranger in the right place to do it. That was how I took out the Viper King on first meeting.

Later game, stealth Shinobi's are the only way to get through the ever increasing visual range of Advent, as no other soldiers have the inate ability to reduce detection ranges. Also as noted they are quite capable of one-manning many missions, or teaming with a specialist or sniper to make some missions types much easier if you only have a short window to work with.

I personally find the technical and grenadier to be lackluster, because they don't fit my style - someone like xwynns (on Youtube and part of the LW test team) makes far better use of them than I ever will.

This is actually what I love about this xcom mod. We have different views on what we think is valuable. I am only 20 hours in, but the ranger seems a little strong. I also say that stealth Shinobi's are one of my favorite things to use. I love being able to be in the middle of a firefight and see that some items are about to expire. I sneak my shinobi in to grab an item and run back out without them seeing me. I know some people will disagree with this, but I really struggle with suppression. I don't find it valuable because it can be canceled or unimportant against enemies that have grenades. Everyone has their own style and that is what makes this game great. I love it when there is no "right answer".

Enemies can't use grenades while suppressed.
