Is there a way to mod the mod to make items squad upgrades again?
I love Long War 2, but the micromanagement of weapons and armor becomes extremely tedious after you've unlocked higher tier equipment. How would I go about making items such as Laser Rifles and Predator Armor squad upgrades again instead of individual items? Is it even feasible?

Perhaps an idea for the next update might be to make it where any weapon mods get transferred to the new weapon on equip since you would already possess the upgrades and all weapons have three slots anyway.

Yes, it does look possible, they even include that as an example on the "Customizing LW2" page:
