XCOM 2
Long War 2
Liberation doesn´t counter the avatar project
Why the hell does liberation of a region nothing to slow down the avatar progress? At least removing one point would be fair and make sense, since liberating just one region takes quite some time and effort. also, ifyou don´t have skullmining, you have 0 chance of finding a facillity lead.
In my latest campaign, I used cheats to remove one point everytime Iliberate a region, because otherwise, there is no way to counter the progress and losing a campaign after 60 or so missions is just way too frustrating. Or does anyone know how to modify the ini-file to make this possible normally?

That´s not the point. at the moment, the only thing I recall from liberating a region is a bit more supplies and no missions popping up in that region. Advent is still able to infiltrate these regions though, so you are still forced to use one of your soldiers as a commander for that region(sorry, don´t know the term for that since I play on german) because otherwise you cant identify them.

Long war 2 advertises with giving the player choices over which missions he accepts. But if you are forced to invest in certain projects, which popup extremely late,it just feels unfair. If you want to balancemy suggestion, I would say, that losing a region back to advent would increase the progress on the avatar project.

It doesn't counter the avatar project because liberating a region does nothing to stop their research. Advent's military strength and the Elders' research endeavors are two completely entities. The only thing liberating a region does with respect to the avatar project is reveal facilities in that region. You should already know where facilities are because it says "Facility built in X" when they build one. Logic checks out

I'm going to have to side with the original poster on this. Logically li8berating a region would reduce the amount of resources the XTs can use for the avatar project, If a facility was built in a sufficiently remote and uninhabited area it might remain undiscovered,

That being said I realize the game is designed to center on small unit combat and not logistics so if the designers say it was designed this way for game balance I'll grumble but play on. There are other areas that are far more illogical than this issue,

Discovering blacksite facilities occurs once a region is liberated. This isn't in dispute. That's the point, liberating regions allows you to assault facilities dedicated to the avatar project. Advent's military arm is not dedicated to the avatar project. Soldiers aren't doing research. Sectopods aren't doing gene sequencing. Military resources and scientific resources are completely different.

Do i have to liberate a region in order to find avatar-facilities?
I can't remember how it was in vanilla.

Right now i have liberated 1 region and try to reach the region where the first facility is (the other side of the globe).

The avatar-counter has only 4 blank points so i am in a little hurry :-D...

Once i have destroyed this first building, will i find the next?

Or skulljack for a facility lead, or receive as a rare intel reward
