9 Faceless in one mission???
I just had a "neutralize target" mission, and it was supposed to be a "light" mission.
I was at 70+% infiltration, and I was surprised that it was still considered "light".
Maby this is why.

When I moved around the map, after being discovered, I ran into two faceless pretending to be civilians.
Now, this is a bit uncommon as this is within the second month of the campaign, but not unheard of.
BUT, as soon as I killed the last enemy in the last enemy pod, 7 more faceless were triggered from all over the map and started rushing me.

Luckily, this was a mission where I had brough in my "firefighter" squad consisting of 10 rangers, which is a squad I use only for missions where I expect very heavy resistance. I used it because I didn't have any other squad available at the time, which might have saved me.

The question is, is this a bug or is this intended?
Because this many faceless on a mission could murder a squad very easily.

(ps. this is on rookie difficulty!)

light missions are roughly 15 enemies. So I guess it's possible

Well there was 4 pods already, so that's more than 15 (I had a total of 22 enemies killed in the post battle screen, and there were no reinforcements, so that's 13 enemies + the 9 faceless.)

I don't think Faceless and Turrets count for the activity. But this is unusual to see that many of them...

At least within the first two months of the campaign, right?

I mean, I'm still using the ballistic weapons and kevlar armour.

I've had those as well. Think they are sort of like trap missions. Civilians everywhere turning into faceless while you're trying to capture or kill the VIP. Guess faceless are the secret service of advent now. ;]
Oddball_E8 11 Feb, 2017 @ 12:26pm
Yeah, I was thinking it might be that.
I'd still like to know if it's a bug or not tho.

What is the ADVENT strength in the region? Trap missions can occur with AS above 6 or 7
TRJoker 11 Feb, 2017 @ 5:34pm
I do not think its a bug.
More likely its a harder version of the Faceless Dark Event.
Did you had that event?
Oddball_E8 11 Feb, 2017 @ 11:22pm
This was litterally my second mission with this squad.
It was like my 4th or 5th mission since starting the campaign.
It was less than two months into the campaign.
ADVENT strength was 1.
I haven't had any dark events that I know of since i haven't even unlocked the first AVATAR event and don't have an AVATAR countdown bar.
Oddball_E8 12 Feb, 2017 @ 12:15am
Ok, now I'm convinced it's a bug because the same thing happened in the next mission, but that mission was one where the enemy was very numerous (so numerous in fact that I know they had filled their quota) and yet it seemed that half the population turned into faceless anyway.
Oddball_E8 12 Feb, 2017 @ 10:48am
To clarify, there were over 40 enemies in the last mission. 7 of which were faceless.
It's a workday tomorrow, so i won't be able to do more testing, but it seems to me that the odds of getting two faceless ambush missions in a row are very slim, so this is either a bug or a dark event. But the thing is, the dark event list is empty.
Can you get dark events before you get the avatar countdown?
TRJoker 12 Feb, 2017 @ 5:59pm
Ok, then for sure a bug ... I think you can get Dark Events before the avatar timer starts ... to be honest, I never had an eye on this till now ... but they appear in your list then.
So I guess you get the best specialist inside game to kill faceless now ....
Oddball_E8 12 Feb, 2017 @ 10:11pm
It certainly changes my playstyle alot.

I'm thinking of removing mission timers just to be able to flush out the Faceless.

Last mission I survived on ROOKIE difficulty with 1 wounded soldier, but that mission had like 35 enemies plus the 7 faceless, and I had 9 Rangers and one Specialist.
I managed to get out of there on the last turn of the timer, but I had to execute the VIP instead of capturing them because the faceless kept appearing and I had to get super defensive.

If I had had a smaller squad, that mission would have been impossible even if there were less enemies, because faceless force you into a defensive stance.
