Project Zomboid

Project Zomboid

Survivors! (Build 39)
Suggestions for Future Updates
1) Survivors tell you if they were bit, if their bandages are dirty or if they're sick for some other reason.

2) Option to disable hunger only for hostile or neutral survivors, so that you still have to make sure your allies have food to eat, but your enemies who can't feed themselves don't starve to death.

3) Allow the player to give survivors bandages they can use on themselves when they're bleeding.

4) Now that survivors hold onto food until they're hungry, maybe have survivors spawn wih a random amount of food. Also if #3 happens, maybe spawn some surviors with bandages as well.

EDIT: I noticed that you already can choose to disable hunger for non party members.

I kinda want a container where survivors get their food and water from it because sometimes I forget to feed them and I wake up the next day to find them dead lol.

That would be nice, but I don't know if Nolan could get the survivors to search for food by themselves. That would make the game more immersive, as you'd have to scavenge faster, knowing that other people may get to the food first. In my early playtroughs, I never even bothered to look for canned goods till power ran out and perishable food started to rot, since I knew nobody was gonna come and take the food before me.

Based on the progress that's been made with this mod since I first started using it, I am confident that given enough time it could eventually happen. But for now the problem of them starving to death is solved, and there are other bugs I'm sure he'd rather work on in his other mods.

Agreed, my suggestion/complaint is rather small but being the forgetful person that I am. Having that feature is a huge boon. If survivors can scavenge their own food then that would be great too.

Another suggestion of mine is survivors forming groups and barricading their "safehouses". I know what I'm asking for is a lot of work. (I'm sorry...) but if they do that then I can just stay in SP forever hehe. Hope this reaches Nolan, the greatest modder I know in all things zomboid.

That would be nice as well. I'm sure the devs are working on something like that, but that will be in maybe a year or more. As fr as modding goes, I think it would be easier to have prespawned barricaded safehouses with survivors in them.

4) Now that survivors hold onto food until they're hungry,

this is already a thing. though i dont think the food can be in a bag. should be in their inventory. they will pickup put food in inventory and only eat it if they are a bit hungry.

I am aware that this is already a thing. I must have worded it wrong. What I'm saying is that, since they already can do that with food, maybe they could be coded to do the same with bandages or suture needles

Ah indeed I did interpret that wrong.
Medical stuff is fully possible just it would be a fair bit of work. Not on my radar atm

How about npc relationships? Like sometimes survivors won't join your group the instant you move closer to them, maybe make wary first but eventually warm up to you and join you. Btw Nolan what language are you using? Maybe I can help with the programming if you like.

Except for one Java edit to disconnect the controls on the survivors, it's all LUA.

Ouch, I only know html and java. Maybe I'll learn Lua so I can make my own mod as well.

How do I prevent my survivors from killing each other? I met one hostile survivor and pvp turned on now my survivors basically shot themselves.

Turn off friendly fire retaliation. Before I figured out how Lua works, the same happened to me all the time. They accidentally hit each other sometimes, and when they do they attack each other till one is dead if friendly fire retaliation is on.
