King & Warlord DLC - Thinking & FAQ
The King & The Warlord is COMING!

Yes we are aware of the new DLC! If you haven't had a chance to look, check it out here:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/404014/

Obviously very proud to see some nice parallels between both of the mods ( All Tabletop Lords , Regiments of Renown! ) and the upcoming DLC. Both in the lore, themes, as well as the thinking and design. Things like the RoR Slayers getting a "Hamstring like effect", the Norgrimling Ironbreakers, Deff Creepers, or the Runelord are all truly amazing to see reflected in the actual game.

First and foremost for me this says that it's a great mod, we don't see this as them "copying" us, everything we are making is based on Warhammer Fantasy using tools from Creative Assembly, we're just following the same well-executed design thinking when it comes to the lore and conversion to Total War, and we've clearly got a winning formula :)

This is not the first time we've managed this sort of addition to the game, it is the same as what happened with the Arch Lector and Strigoi Ghoul King for All Tabletop Lords when the Grim & the Grave was released, so just like before we are excited!

I see it as a great honour and very validating as a modder. I'm really proud of the work we are doing, and our ability to try and match the teams thinking as best we can, to provide CA/GW quality content worthy of using as a mod.

Of course, ultimately making content this accurate and lore-friendly, means this stuff is bound to happen, and while YES it is more work for us to ensure that we aren't conflicting with this DLC content, we believe that's worth it, because that's not the goal, the goal is to ENHANCE the developers content. So just like last patch, we will figure out how to tweak what we've got to make sure there are no duplicates, as well as to strengthen this roster even further given time.

Rest assured since we've already been through this, we know how to handle it don't worry, and if you were ever in doubt that when we make units, we do them RIGHT, look no further ;)

Thank everyone for your passion and interest in the mods, we appreciate all the support!

FAQ

Q: Will it work after the patch?
A: Absolutely, barring the time all mods need to make adjustments and get back online after a patch. Obviously we may have a bit more work than others due to the new additions being similar in what tables they edit, so we'll definitely be doing that right after patch.

Q: Will you be removing the duplicate units?
A: Any that share a direct name, specifically the Norgrimling Iron Drakes, and the Deff Creepers will be reworked, and we are still considering how to handle the 4 from each faction that share a unit type. I will update this soon with a more complete strategy.

Q: Will this mod now require the DLC?
A: No I don't believe so, however there's some really amazing content in this DLC, I can already see so much potential, and the price is incredibly fair for the amount of content, so I highly recommend you get it regardless!

already preordered, but I am also stoked for your mod!

I would put it this way: That goblin lord makes a good basis for other goblin lords (he has simlar armor pieces to the orc warboss, and you could probably de nightify him or go even further and do forest goblin lords)

Wurzagg also probably got some good pieces for savage orc boss/shaman
Perhaps you could coordinate with CA to complement each other's niche. For example after this Dwarf and Greenskin DLC, you guys could find out what races CA is building next, or you guys could let CA know what races you guys would like to build next. No pressure attached.

At the very least such coordination could be another consideration for both CA and you awesome guys to plan out your next builds and hopefully avoid redundancies.

Just my two pennies.

I completely agree. We would love to do this, certainly. If we had the right connections, I'd be very eager to have this kind of dialogue!!! Something to look forward to perhaps. Ultimately I'd be honored if CA involved us in any way, or even considered the idea and reached out.

Maybe there's more we could do to initiate it, I'm just not sure where to start!

I might suggest you try and talk with a youtuber like HeirofCarthage, THFE, or maybe Lionheart. They all clearly share some level of corrospondance with CA on a semi regular basis, at least enough that occassionally what they say and suggest ends up worked into the main game every now and then. Considering its in CA's best interest to support the modding community, just for overall game longevity and to keep people interested between expansions, Im sure they'd probably consider working with a band as professional as this team of modders here. Honestly just the speed of the update today has made it clear that if theres any modders I want to support throughout this games life cycle and its several uppcomming expansions, its this team. Cant see why CA wouldnt think the same.
