The game really needs this...
I am a big fan of World War History; as my Great Grandfather served in the Pacific and was at Pearl Harbor during the bombing.

TF2 is based after the 2nd World War -- 1968 to be exact -- and it would not be to far off to take a few weapons from that era and infuse them into the game.

I also see a few different game modes that might be possible as well. Maybe using acuatly tanks to invade trenches or a massive 40 on 40 battle like Omaha Beach.

Given the recent release of the so called tf2 killer "Overwatch" the game needs something to bring in gamers that played World at War. This could be that extra edge TF2 needs.

That acutally fits really well with the year of TF2.

I would be concerned with the possible backlash from vets. The Vietnam war is a very sensitive subject.

I think to begin with it was set in the late sixties but the game time moves with real time, making it almost 10 years since when the game was originally based. Not sure though.

Not just WW1&2 it's (supposed to be) based on any 20th century wars, so that's any war from 1900-1999.
