Most mountain provinces are just painfull ample fronts where in reality you would only fight for a tiny 2-3 little passes.
Maybe in a year from now when the game is working and stable, that kind of attention to detail would be nice. But right now the game is flat out broken and any quick fixes like this to patch it while Paradox gets their act together will be helpful.
It's either that or we pretend this is WWXX taking place in 5000 A.D. when Africa is 100% urban...
