It is the representation of a blank slate onto which we can project anything imaginable. It is a void that we can fill with our essence for good or ill. In this way, this mod is life itself.
Our existance is one of countless random events. We try to discern meaning from them, but that only results in either failure or complacency. Both leave us with the same conclusion: nothing. That is why reality is absurd; so many things happen, yet it is all devoid of meaning.
Does this absurdity trap us? As Albert Camus said, "The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absurdly free that your very existence is an act of rebellion."
Rather than surrender, we can be like Sisyphus. He was able to transcend his monotonous existance by finding joy in watching the destruction of his work. What was meant to be a punishment became his goal.
Because life has no meaning, it must take whatever meaning we give it. Instead of being overcome by absurdity, we can enjoy the randomness of reality and laugh into the void.
This mod is nothing, thus it is everything.
It is the dawn of the 22nd century, and the conquest of space has been monopolized by a handful of hugely ambitious mega-corporations. A delicate and vulnerable balance is maintained, but now, at the very edge of the solar system, a discovery has been made which will tip the scales forever — and send one ship and crew on an epic interstellar odyssey.
