I like building right next to the green obelisk. Lots of flat area around it once you clear trees and rocks. It's close to a starting beach location, so I build my starter base there, and when I get to stone construction level and a trike or two, I head up there to start clearing and building. :)

Note: there are Raptors, Carnos and Theriz up there, so be prepared to put up some walls to keep the neighbors out. ;)

Oh and that would be Sunato, East Beach to start.
