Nanite Control Factory - Automated Construction (Not working - Old Version)
Edgelord69 4 May, 2016 @ 10:06am
Server lag
With the mod installed, server lags seriously even the nanites are turned off. This happened after recent update.

Server log:

You're missing a log. You also need to describe your issue a bit more than "it lags". Also how many mods are you using? Does the lag go away after you remove the mod?

Apology for the ambiguity. "Lag" means that the avatar (and ships) from time to time would leap in random directions uncontrollably, as if the server can't catch up with the player's movement. The lag stops after removing nanite mod. The link in my previous post is updated with server log. Please tell me if you need anything else.

The link in the first post is updated with server log. Hope it helps your diagnosis.

Is this a personal MP servers that you just play with friends? If so it may be easier for me to see this if I get a copy of your MP world and run it locally.

I managed to replicate the problem in a small MP world:
http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=679285558

Despite the relatively massive size of the ship, the server is smooth when nanite mod is disabled.

Thanks, I will take a look at it.

Unfortunately the world is blank.

Sorry, must be seeing things. The world's updated and I loaded it from steam workshop.

Just pitching in my two cents.. are you sure this is caused by this mod? I've seen the exact behavior you described ever since they implemented the new multiplayer code on every laggy server, even localhost sessions sometimes when the UPS drops.. This due to the new way client input is sent to the server for synced multiplayer.
I also just tested playing solely with the nanite factory to see what impact it has on the UPS in general, and it does affect it, especially when having lots of grinding or welding nanites active at once (mostly fault of the way grinders/welders work), so that may be what you're seeing.. but I didn't notice any movement jitter while the UPS was at 60 and the nanite factory was active. (tip: CTRL+H shows small graph with UPS and FPS and network stats)

For my case, the causality is experimentally obvious: with nanite=lag (even when the nanites are turned off), no nanite=no lag. For your case, how do you manage to keep "UPS 60 and the nanite factory was active"?

@lowerlowerhk I have an i5 2400 in my desktop, it runs at 70-100% of all cores when the nanite factory's active (40-60% when off, no other applications running), but UPS stays around 60 UPS with the exception of when there's a lot of nanites either welding or grinding (e.g clean up nanites don't seem to affect it).. Admittedly that's crazy heavy for a game, the sandybridge i5 is pretty damn fast (beats the hell out of most higher end AMD CPUs), but it doesn't specifically seem to be the nanite factory that causes the issues, more so the things that the individual nanites do which are heavy in the game itself (i.e welding and grinding).

No this is definitely a problem. Thank you for the world, I will track it down and fix it ASAP.
tyrsis  [developer] 6 May, 2016 @ 11:57am
I located and fixed the issue. Will be available soon.

This should be fixed in the latest update. Requires a server restart. Tell me if it helps.

Problem solved. Thanks a lot
