Nanite Control Factory - Automated Construction (Not working - Old Version)
Teneombre 8 Jun, 2016 @ 4:07pm
Mining setting
The radius and depth option seem not working. I actually perform some test and with depth and radius set on 500 (so must be detect (and mine because I also increse the range of nanite) in a cylinder of 500 m radius and 25000 m deth)) it only detect (and mine) ore in a SPHERE of 7.5 block (so more or less 20m). This happen also with different kind of combo (50 radius/100 depth, 1000/1000). I am currently on a big asteroid with uranium, paladium, iron, silicon, etc).
The hammer is yellow/orange and hit the ground all the time (normal). Nanite comes (orange) and work (green) until they mined all the ore detected in the sphere then the hamme still work but don't detect anything else.

The NUHOL wasn't obeying the setting in some cases, this has been fixed.

Please note: If you set a large radius, the length of time it takes to scan increases expontentially. Meaning if you try to scan 500x5m it may take minutes or more just to do a single scan! (And basically eat up an entire CPU while it's doing it. While the game won't lag, it will take awhile).

ok. thanks for the advice. I will perform some tests this evening. The big number was only here to be sure it didn't work :)
just one more question, if you come here again. The radius and deph define a cylinder. This cylinder is centrer (in term of depth) on the NUHOL or the NUHOL is on the top ?

NUHOL is top of cylinder and it extends downward

thanks :)

After few tests : I have a lot of trouble with the nanite factory itself (never send nanite (or just once sometimes) even if nuhol detect ore). (actually on a 50/5 setting). Often have, after reloading, a bug with the nuhol itself (turn red after selecting /deselect and ore).
With highter setting (100/5) nuhol never detect ore (u said it will take some time so I let the game run during an hour... without any change). The nuhol menu doesn't show anything (ore detected/detectable in the bot-right side is empty. it didn't even show the titles (ore detected etc)).
it seems the only way to run the mining part without trouble is to let the radius and depth setting on default (I change the other setting without trouble).

edit : finally work with the couple 30-5. A little bit small in radius but anyway.
I try to mount a NUHOL on a ship and put it in the ground. But it's seems doesn't work (even if the major part of the bottom is actually inside the asteroid. I post a screen-shot of the device. http://gtm.steamproxy.vip/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=700682085

Edit 2 : finally got it (pushing and pushing again). But seem a little messy if you could, one day, improve the sensitive of the device, it will be perfect. thanks btw for this mod :)

The next version which should be out a bit later today will improve the detection.

Thanks :)

The detection is odd, the beacon end seems to detect ore much easier than the hammer base, if I mount the base to the ship and touch the voxel with the top bit it immediates detects ore and starts working, if I try it with the base it hardly works, it need to manually dig a little hole to get in deep enough.

This has changed.

I'm noticing an issue with the NUHOL... It has no problem detecting ore when I first arrive at a resource patch. I let it mine out the spot its over then disassemble & setup a new NUHOL maybe 40m away. This time it fails to detect anything. I tried several other locations nearby... it won't detect the remaining ore. If however I move to a completely new site some distance away then it works but again, only once. I have to abandon sites that I know have lots of resources left just to get the NUHOL to start working again. Am I doing something wrong, any ideas?

The NUHOL in the picture is upside down. Now its trying to detect ore in the air... there isn't any ore in the air obviously ;)

Yeap that does seem to work better right-side-up... LOL

Odd that it "sorta" worked up-side-down as well. Anyway I'll be using these the correct way up from now on as it seems to be letting me mine more than just once in an area now. Thanks a bunch.

It's actually a radius around the base. I just got lazy and decided to leave the radius above the base. So it can detect about 20m above the base as well. This is why it was "kind of working" if you place it upside down.
