Ship Parachutes

Info on parachutes?
Is there some info on how much each can handle or such, would like to know for some of the various ships we have on my server.

i am also intrested into more info of how much mass a parachute can handle/slow down
and will it break?
is one enough for a 12m kg ship?

i'd like to know how much a single parachute can handle as well. kiinda wasteful to decorate my ugly ship with seeminly hundreds of these

I would agree, some info on the mass per chute would be nice. Also what altiduce they deploy at.

I have 4 mounted on my container pod weighin in at 1,590,449kg empty. Pod was at about 11 m/s on touchdown making for a mostly survivable landing.

Could estmate that each parachute can handle about ruffly 397,000 kg. Possibly more but have not tested it with more weight yet.

c = 2.5d * (atmosphere * 1.225) * dragvector.LengthSquared() * Math.PI * RadiusSquared is the formula.

does someone know if there is a script that i can use on a drop pod to open the parashute at 100m

@Koine dont open the chutes at 100ms if you are going 100mps I currently have my drop pod deploying the chutes at 1000ms and it still has rough landing but it currently has 4 parachutes so I might need more or have to make the chutes deploy at a higher altitude such as maybe 1,500ms

well i done a test with a dropod i designed (very very ugly design but works) and i opened it a few times on 100M wich indeed failed but after some test i figured i could open the parashutes at 250 and it would come come to a slow drop of 4m/s at 100m after that. ofcourse i could just activate the trusters at that point but i actually wanted to let it drop until it lands on the ground.

not sure of the exact weight a parachute can hold......but i do know tht 1 parachute will not b enough for a 12 million kg ship.......i ran a few tests using a small ship of only 1.2 million and it took around 16 chutes to slow it down enough so it wouldn't crash land and lose vital components....so since this is probably a large ship ur talking about u will probably need around 10 maybe 11 times more but make sure u have them spaced correctly as well so wen they deploy ur ship stays level.....as any increased height in the tail or nose of the ship will increase the speed ur ship drops at as teh weight on the chutes pulling up the tail or nose will end up with more weight being carried

like i have said before i tested it but need script to make it open at a certain altitude without gps coord

Hey Koine, have you thought about using a (modded) sensor to activate the 'chute at 250m?

how would it handle if it was traveling at 800mps?

what do u think
xD

What is the way to set more (custom) drag for Yours and vanilla parachutes, Sir?
