Men of War: Assault Squad 2

RobZ Realism mod
concerning Flame Tanks
First off, i'd like to thank everyone working on this mod, Robz Realism mod has brought my friends and me hours upon hours of fun.

However there is one thing that i feel like isn't very balanced, that is the flame tank (or any vehicle using flamethrowers). now im not advocating for removing the flame tanks, but there are some issues , for example: because the way tank elevation and aiming works, you can target rooftops for example, what follows is a the flames will fly over any cover and burn anything it touches.

another problem that flame tanks have is the amount of ammo one has. A normal inf Flamethrower runs out in less then 2 min of continuous use. A flame Tank rarely runs out of ammo.

some possible fixes are maybe shorting the range of a flame tank, or give it less ammo. Another possible solution is maybe giving them a max amount, like officers or infantry flamethrowers.

(I am also aware of the fact that when you call in a flame tank, it takes a long time to call in another)

This was my 2 cents thanks for listening to my TED Talk.

thanks Robz for the mod.

Personally i feel like they are just right in balancing.
They do run out of ammo quite fast for me, kill reliably but arent simple to get within range of the enemy.

Also, they are quite easy to counter, Buying a AT Rifle or a crappy early AT gun is better than losing a zone.

Flammenpanzer 3 with the 70 range and spaced armor that can deflect any midgame and early game shell and any rpg

Track it
Use a Goliath
Sneak some kamikaze
Use AT grenades

Soviet 57's and American 76's can pen a Panzer 3's frontal armor.

Use mortars
Place AT mines and lure it into it
Buy your own Flame tank and start a flame dual

And if patch notes are anything to go off of, It should be easier to knock the side skirts off Panzers.

And get this, PIAT guns dump on most tanks in the game.

Pick something that works.

Nothing of this list works reliably. And this parts "Use a Goliath
Sneak some kamikaze
Use AT grenades Use mortars
Place AT mines and lure it into it
Buy your own Flame tank and start a flame dual
" is just laughable.

Poblem with the flame tank- you let it roll for 30 seconds and it wipes your entire flank, killing everything on the field INCLUDING superheavy tanks and other valuable vehicles while being indirect fire weapon, which means it can do its thing while hiding in the terrain.

You lose super-heavy's to flame tanks?

Listen bud I threw out some genuinely good options to incapacitate or destroy enemy flame tanks.
What the hell passes your threshold of working "Reliably"

Maybe if you get better at micro you could be the one hiding flame tanks in the terrain and win tank duals.

PIATs work really well because they're also quite good at indirect fire but not everyone has them

>sneaking ANYTHING close to a flame tank

did you miss the part where it's a FLAME tank? If everything around the flame tank isn't on fire you're doing it wrong. Flame tanks are rarely just pushed up by themselves, and all it takes is some conservative use to destroy an entire line with them.

Wasps for instance were nerfed for a reason, even though you can kill them by sneezing on them.

76 and 57 mm somewhat reliable but like i said- you need them at the exact moment when flame tanks moves to position in the open, if it got behind cover- you cant deal with them without getting closer, but they can ♥♥♥♥ flame everywhere.
You CANT always take them from distance, thats the thing.
And if you get close it is the weapon of absolute destruction like Avre, but it is also have no reaload time, it is have way better trajectory and almost infinit ammunition (and also you can loose tank to the falme by running over burning ground, lol)
There is nothing besides lucky shot from super heavy arty that works against flame tank on the opposite slope of the hill.

Its not like these things need to happen one at a time, it could be a combination of factors that kill an enemy tank.

Look at what the enemy has at the objective and what he's pushing you with.

All the options I stated have the potential to kill / incapacitate flame vehicles.

SS-D: Paper thin armor
PZ-III: Single flame thrower and slow reverse speed but decent armor
SS-FPW: Paper thin Halftrack, seen it killed with DshK's/AT Rifles
Churchill Croc: Slow, easy to track but good armor
Sherman Croc: Easy to pen frontally with decent AT.
Wasp: Paper thin, Seen it killed with DshK's/AT Rifles

Now the Hetzer is a bit tricky: Hard to counter, but by the time it unlocks you hopefully have some good AT for it.

Just figure out who you're up against and play with your strengths...

There is no catch all solution, no hard counters, just fairly good options when employed correctly or when there is an opening.
