Please help - mod won't work on my server
Firstly, let me apologize in advance. I am very new at this and learning as I go along. I have my heart set on using this total conversion on my server and for the life of me cannot get it to work correctly. I have spent hours researching and trying various things to no avail, and I can't find any sort of server download instructions for this particular TC. I sincerely appreciate any help/suggestions anyone can give. I'm going to include everything I think might be even slightly relevant (sorry if it's too much or not relevant).

Server info:
Host: Serenity Servers
Server type: Linux

I have tried to use the Ark Server Manager tool, but it will not connect with my server. I'm not sure if that's because the server is Linux, or it's not compatible with Serenity Servers remote connection, or if I'm doing something wrong (strong possibility).

What I've done:
I subscribed to the mod on Steam and used FileZilla to copy my game's Mods folder into the /ShooterGame/Content folder in my server's File Manager. My server now has a /ShooterGame/Content/Mods/504360469 folder with its subfolders and a /ShooterGame/Content/Mods/504360469.mod file

Serenity Server's Commandline Manager > custom commandlines does not have a field for Total Conversion mods, just a field for ModIDs. When I insert the Primitive+ modID into that field, it doesn't register there's a total conversion on my server in the Ark game client's server list; HOWEVER, if I manually enter "?-TotalConversionMod=504360469" into the ModID field, it includes this command in the commandline and the Ark game client lists my server as Total Conv. My custom commandline looks like this:

TheIsland?listen?maxplayers=30?MultiHome=104.238.193.110?QueryPort=27046?RCONPort=27047?port=27045?GameModIds=478736056,512301699?-TotalConversionMod=504360469?alwaysNotifyPlayerLeft=True?ServerAdminPassword=redacted?ServerPassword=redacted?allowThirdPersonPlayer=True?alwaysNotifyPlayerJoined=True?globalVoiceChat=True?ShowMapPlayerLocation=True?noTributeDownloads=True?proximityChat=True?ServerCrosshair=True

In my GameUserSettings.ini I have added the following lines:
[ServerSettings]
TotalConversionMod=504360469
ActiveMods=478736056,512301699

I have tried listing the Primitive+ ID under both ActiveMods and TotalConversionMod in the GameUserSettings.ini. I have tried both making the server primitive through the game.ini and leaving the server normal. I have tried disabling all other mods.

What I'm seeing in-game:
When I launch my game client, it lists my server under the Primitive+ Survival Total Conversion. However, none of the engrams from this mod are appearing in the learnable engrams list. I can cheat spawn the items from this mod just fine, but none of the new items with physical meshes (fireplace, building structures, tables, ovens, etc.) can be placed in the world. I can hotkey them, but they cannot be used/placed. When I spawn items without physical meshes, like food, I can consume them and even get their buffs. I tested this with coffee and it worked perfectly. So I'm not sure why the modded items are in the game, but the engrams cannot be learned and the structures cannot be placed in the world.

More info: (I'm not sure if any of this will be helpful/relevant at all, but I'll mention it just in case.)
Something I've noticed is that the Mod folders contain a lot of repeating names from folders in other locations in the game files. For example, in the /ShooterGame/Content/Mods/504360469 folder is a folder named ShooterGame, which contains a folder named Content, which contains two folders named Mods and Primal Earth. The Mods folder contains a folder called PrimitivePlus. The path looks like this:
ShooterGame/Content/Mods/504360469/ShooterGame/Content/Mods/PrimitivePlus

Should I have downloaded the mod directly into the original ShooterGame folder to overwrite the existing folders of the same name (e.g., Content/Mods and Content/PrimalEarth) or somewhere else rather than ShooterGame/Content/Mods folder?

Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of the files are zipped. I don't know if they are supposed to be like that or not.

Please be gentle. I'm learning. Thank you so much in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck getting the Ark Server Manager to connect to my server host. I'm not sure why.

Thanks everyoen for helping out! I use the ark server manager with no problems. Remember that this will cause conflicts if loaded with other mods right now. It modifies the core game files heavily. I will be circling back around after the mod contest to make a more stackable version of this mod.

This is close (see below).

In my GameUserSettings.ini I have added the following lines:
[ServerSettings]
TotalConversionMod=504360469
ActiveMods=478736056,512301699

I have tried listing the Primitive+ ID under both ActiveMods and TotalConversionMod in the GameUserSettings.ini. I have tried both making the server primitive through the game.ini and leaving the server normal. I have tried disabling all other mods.

What I've discovered is that this mod does not work with other mods (currently...not sure if plans are in the works to change this). So, I'd suggest removing the ActiveMods= and TotalConversionMod= variable from your GameUserSettings.ini, unsubscribing to any other mods, then deleting any other remaining mod directories from your server.

Finally, change your commandline to look like this:

TheIsland?listen?maxplayers=30?MultiHome=104.238.193.110?QueryPort=27046?RCONPort=27047?port=27045?alwaysNotifyPlayerLeft=True?ServerAdminPassword=redacted?ServerPassword=redacted?allowThirdPersonPlayer=True?alwaysNotifyPlayerJoined=True?globalVoiceChat=True?ShowMapPlayerLocation=True?noTributeDownloads=True?proximityChat=True?ServerCrosshair=True -TotalConversionMod=504360469

Hopefully with those changes you should get the mod to work. Note there is a space between ServerCrosshair=True and the hyphen.

I'm not sure if this matters but the changes I've suggested work on my Windows based server. But from what I've read I don't believe there are specific variables/commands between the OS's (Linux and/or Windows).

Good luck!

I think I was gentle.

. . . You are my hero. Seriously. This . . . this actually worked. I can't believe it. It's actually working! Grinning ear to ear over here.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help!

I really wish I could use the Ark Server Manager. It would have made this whole process so much easier. Can't wait until they get Linux support! I finally got the mod to work the hard way, and it's seriously awesome. Definitely worth the extra effort! Thanks for all the work you've put into it. After 500+ hours of PT, it feels like a new game again. =)
Ohhhh..... This mod is not working with other mods... That's bad, but ok.
Any way, can you fix time of loading? It's very slow to load, some players are not able to join. WIthout mod it's loading very fast.

I hate to ressurect this thread but I'm running into a similar situation as the OP. I have done all that was suggested here in getting the Prim+ TC to work on my ARK server, but after uploading the mod folder and .mod file to the appropriate directory as well as inputting the correct command in the Commandline when the server boots, my server is not visible on my favorites or the Unoffical list, even after extensive waiting to see if it would appear. If I remove the TC command line and reboot as normal, the server will appear a few minutes later.

Any suggestions from those experienced using this TC on their server? Is there anything else I need to do regarding configuring .ini or config files to get the server to boot up with the TC?

When you boot up the game, there's an option to select a total conversion. Do you have "Prim+ Survival" selected under Total Conversions before attempting to view the in-game server lists?
