Only if someone wants to model it.
I don't like the zooming in when aiming and pressing shift (neither do i on the original INS.)
Now this is a hard compromise, because no zooming at all would be pretty hard (esp. for the more casual-oriented user), but zooming in is unrealistic and feels unnatural, because the human eye cant zoom and you also cant move your head so much to the front.
At present, it is no zoom at all when aiming, and much zoom when pressing shift.
My suggestion would be a rebalance of this.
When aiming, there should be a decent zoom (like 1/4 of the zoom when pressing shift now). I think this would be a nice compromise for both realism- and casual-players.
When pressing shift additonally,it should zoom in a little bit further (maybe again like 1/4 of the original zoom or even less), he should hold his breath and sway should be reduced (like it alrealdy is) and maybe a bit of blurring outside of the sight to simulate the focusing of the human eye.
Just an idea to make this mod even more realistic but also more fun, any thoughts?
EDIT: Ah okay, this is exactly like it is in original Insurgency, but i would still stick with this, but reduce the amount of zooming. So there should be a small amount of zoom when aiming (less than in original INS) and just a little more when pressing shift additionally, also less than in the original. Blurring should be added when aiming and just slightly more when pressing shift additionally.
The focus feature feels fine to me right now. Reducing the zoom might have a poor impact on long-range gameplay, considering that it is already very hard to hit moving targets at a distance with this mod, especially with the freeaim, reduced scope size, and increased recoil.
Info: I updated my last post.
Well, that it is what its like in real life? Don't get me wrong, of course there need to be some adjustments made to make this game worth playing, and of course it is not 100% realistic. But when its hard to hit over long range in real life it should be ingame too, and you cant "push" this with implementing a zoom that just lacks explanation in real life and the human body. I believe my solution would be a nice compromise. Zooming in, holding your breath, less sway etc. when pressing shift are already some things that help you to hit targets over long range.
I played this mod a few hours (i think its the Insurgency that it always should have been) now and still think that it feels strange having no zoom at all when aiming and than there this superhuman cyborg zoom when pressing shift to it.
I don't think there should be any zoom, unless you use the focus feature, but that's just a personal preference, since it feels more natural to me to not have zoom. Also, having zoom when ads would kind of make the medium scopes kind of useless (just like in vanilla), since most engagements occur at <50m in Insurgency.
The lack of zoom when aiming is designed to represent the perpherial vision opeators would still have when aiming down sights, as well as increasing the usefulness of the focus feature. The reason that the focus feature has zoom is because it gives incentive for players to slow down and stand still when engaging enemies. From a realistic angle, the focus feature represents the eyes of the operator "focusing" on the enemy, and blocking out all peripheral distractions.
Slightly off-topic, but here's a link to the mechanics of aiming in FPS games.

Like i said it my original post no zoom is the most natural solution, but there need to be some adjustments made to make hitting just a bit easier. While the Mod now uses 0% zoom when aiming to 100% Zoom when focusing, i would rebalance it to someting around 50/50 or 60/40 but way less throughout, because me personally thinks that the zoom when focusing in the mod now just "feels" way to much and obtrusive. But of course, we can stick with the 0/100 solution, but then i would still reduce the amount of zoom when focusing to maybe 50% of what its now.
Maybe this would be even the better solution, i just wanted to give some food for thought.
I'm fifty-fifty about how much it should be at the moment. part of me wants less to none, but part of me wants to be able to targets at range.
