Need feedback - volume and dampeners (+DEV VERSION!)
Alright I'm planing on adding dampeners and volume to the HUD as well.

For dampeners I guess an icon next to the broadcast one would do.

But for volume I'd have to rearange some things, I was thinking of:

- moving oxygen under the health bar and place the volume on top of the energy bar.

- volume as a vertical bar on the right... but that might get obscured by the build list.

- centered bar ?

Also I'm not sure what icon to make for dampeners... a red X over a thruster icon when they're off ? Or a thruster icon with a spring coming out of the nozzle (literal dampener =) ) when on ? Other ideas ?

Do you already have some sort of a mockup for that? Might help with feedback.
Having all lifesupport bars on one side and other stuff like volume, speed and dampeners on the other side would be coherent, but might also clutter th UI too much.
A centered bar on the bottom could interfer with the actionbars.
Regarding the actionbars, do you have any plans on adding these? Would be practical not having to switch between the original HUD and yours, but again, this could add too much on your UI.
But this might be something to try out with some quick and dirty mockups and then look how it feels.
Good UI design usually is quite hard task I have a lot of respect for and I like your approach a lot more than the original SE UI. I really hope that Keen get inspirated by your work ;)

The broadcast icon is now a mesh (it was just a texture) not sure if I should leave it like that.
I don't really like the dampeners icon though, still looking for suggestions on that one.

I'm not sure if I can get the actionbar stuff, I'll investigate.
However, a problem would be that it would collide with the existing one since I can't tell if the game HUD is on or off.

EDIT:
I can read the taskbar, but the problem would be that I can't display the icons nor text xD

As I already said in the comments, no.
Text can only be done with LCDs and those can only have opaque backgrounds, and it looks weird.
Also there's no way that I know to get the pressurized environment arround the player.

well for something in the bottom center of the screen you could have a compass that points towards spawn, and the radio signals could appear like in Fallout 3/NV or skyrim, and then if the signal is coming from above you or below you it shows a small arrow pointing up or down

is the hud, transparent blocks or something? I think the simpler version looks better. although the underlay for the bars is a good addition.

Not sure if the inventory bar is understandable what it is or what it means XD
Also, with or without gray background on the broadcast and the other one ?

the thired screenshot looked pretty good... and the symbol for the dampers is good... but you should add an info in your description...

Add what info in the description ? O.o

And I'm talking about the background for the broadcast/dampener icons, not the bars.
