suggestion (kind of)
while playing with this mod i was just mucking around and then i hopped into a large ship cockpit, and realised the bars aligned a bit with some panels on the dashboard.

then it hit me.

would it be possible to make a sister mod to this one, that shows special GUIs depending if the player is sitting on a cockpit or not?
and make them fixed (not rotate with player head, but instead with player body since player is sitting)?

putting some kind of projected holographic instrumentation (a la Elite:Dangerous), like velocity vector, anti velocity vector, a horizon line (further down the dev road, when planets are in the game, of course), artificial horizon line to show overall gravity direction, and if possible, a radar of sorts, would be a godsend for the game.

Well, it kinda is possible to do that but I've not figured out how it will all come together yet.

Also there's the thing that not all ships are the same hence not all cockpits need to display the same information, so it's really tricky.

i would begin with a simple velocity and anti velocity display. the velocity vector data is open in the game, even ingame scripts can grab it.
and every ship is 'more flyable' knowing where it is going.

i think that GUI styles or functions could be different for each cockpit.
assuming for example that a small fighter cockpit would be used on a fighter ship would be acceptable. i would begin with the big ship cockpit though, the one which has the little dashboard, it gives lots of room for tinkering.

and if all this is not satisfactory, maybe make a deeply and highly configurable mod, some kind of 'moddable mod', that could grab 'configs' from inside the game, from places like text panels or programmable blocks.(if inside the realm of possibilities of course)

EDIT================================================================
Also, even though i cant code, if you need someone to design things for you, or to model them in 3D, or if you need sound effects (for this mod or other mods) i can and want to help, since i work with this, i think maybe i could be of help.
