Balancing and Suggestions
While I have tested this character quite a bit during development, there could still be room for improvement. Let me know if you think Nedelya is overpowered or underpowered, or if you have any ideas for her.

I'm going to reflect on some of my design choices here. Feel free to discuss, because I'm not a competitive gamer, and could make some mistakes in balancing.

Nedelya compares to Wolfgang the way her damage multiplier changes, but being based on temperature instead hunger. Originally I wanted her hot damage multiplier to be 2.25, but knowing players can have very marginal views on what is overpowered, I decided it was safest to make it 2, which is Wolfgang's highest multiplier.

Nedelya also has 50 more health than the default character, mostly to help balance what you would lose from overheating. Lore-wise, it could also be justified by the fact that Nedelya's parents forced her to eat healthily, as conveyed in a few of the quotes I've written.

So far, I do not know other players' opinions on the difficulty of Nedelya's heat mechanic. Basically, playing this character eliminates the need for freeze and wetness protection in exchange for needing heat protection in more seasons. I suppose it makes Nedelya a good option for players who have more trouble with winter than summer, or would prefer to work on only one type of elemental protection instead of three.

Thermal stones have some unique applications for Nedelya. Thermal stones work by bringing the temperature of the holder to its temperature, so during seasons other than summer, a thermal stone at world temperature could prevent Nedelya from overheating.(EDIT: This seems to have changed in DST. Thermal stones now have to be cold to work.) I approached this by making it where Nedelya heats thermal stones in her inventory, so that she can't hold it forever. This also presents a possible advantage for a non-Nedelya player teaming up with her, since she can heat a thermal stone and give it to the other player to help them keep warm.

I played with my friend a while ago.
My deaths
Dying from heat
Killed by something I attacked to let off heat
Killed by beefalo when trying to let off heat on another beefalo
Ice crystal ran out, so I had to hit something to let off heat, killed it, then burnt to death
(Hint: You overheat too fast and the ice crystal doesn't last long enough to get enough gear to stay cooled down)

Thanks for the feedback.

I have buffed Nedelya since the first release, and I'm kind of afraid to buff her anymore than I already have (increased health, increased summer insulation effectiveness, protection from coldness and wetness) without making her overpowered.

Nedelya's heat can be managed the same way summer is dealt with. The straw hat and pretty parasol both work to slow down heat early-game, and the chilled amulet is best used during emergencies when you have no targets, tree shade, or endothermic fire to cool you down.

(First of all I'd like to point out how heavily I admire your work, it is apparent, especially on this character. Skimming through everything and acknowledging all the various file types I realized how much work something like this really does take, and how you'd went beyond that to integrate the insanity voice, if you are to have another project like this at any point in the future I'd greatly enjoy any means of being kept up to date, and help in any means applicable.) Personally if there's any feature I feel is a little odd with Nedelya, it isn't quite essential to the gameplay, however I do feel it was large component to my own endearment to the character, she has her own distinct lore. This is something I admire most in her, especially in how it is portrayed. However. Alongside the heat you must balance your sanity in a fashion that is not too hot nor too low, which is usually able to be done with a Garland, however this removes the ability of using a Straw hat, crippling her against her heat condition... Perhaps there's some other way to manage her self-driven dialogue?

... High* not... "hot."

Thanks for your meaningful comment. I'll think about adding an alternative way of exploring Nedelya's story in the future.

So far I put updates on twitter, though I'm still new to it. https://twitter.com/dleowolf

Don't mention it, and I'll make sure to stay tuned, and for someone "new" (even by comparison to those who claim they are not...) some of the most thoughtful I've come across. I feel redundant in saying so, but as the spicy memes would assert me to say... "gr8 job m8."

Thoughtful works*... Sorry.

So I was briefly confused by the term "insulation" in the description of this mod and I just want some clarification. How do items with cold insulation work with Nedelya? Heating up quicker? No effect? Cold insulation->Heat insulation?

Btw, just want to say I love your mods, they're all incredibly well done.

Cold insulation won't speed up heating, but it will slow down heat loss if it's cold enough.

So normal behavior. Gotcha, thanks.

Oh, While I'm here, I noticed that Nedelya has Wilson's quote when examining the Gigantic Beehive.
Perhaps you could go in and find what doesn't all have custom dialogue and update her.

i feel like the conductor blade should have unlimited use like the DS version, or at least have a option to configure it in the mod menu like Zinnia's hammer, because you dont get many red gems and you cant use your fists on any non agressive entity. you could make it so that no other characters can pick it up if your worried about balancing unless that is already a thing.

I feel like the Conductor blade is fine where it's at. Baybe give it a little more damage though.
