April 14th Update - Feedback
Hi everyone!

This week's update brings some more goodies for you to enjoy! They've been added as beta test options, so don't forget to check the options and enable what you want to use.

The six-lane road with bus lanes has been textured and a two-lane busway has been added!
The busway only allows buses (obviously) and vehicles in emergency so it is not zonable to prevent problems related with the lack of public services. This means that you cannot place a bus depot in these roads, but I think that's a small price to pay. It was one of the most voted suggestions so I hope you like it. You can find it at the end of the two-lane road panel.

Realistic vehicle and citizen speeds!
Vehicles drive at a more sane speed and each one is randomized, so you can have some cars speeding up while others calmly enjoy the view. It still needs a bit of tweaking but I think it's good enough for a beta test.
With this mode on, you should think about adding more public service facilities to your city since vehicles will take longer to reach their destinations.

I hope you like the update. Let me know what you think of these new features and how they could be improved.
As always, if you have any problem with this update please follow the instructions below (the pop-up error alone is mostly useless). For any other feedback just leave a comment. Thank you!

Change Notes:

- Added textures to the six-lane road with bus lanes (beta test option)
- Added a two-lane busway (beta test option)
- Added realistic vehicle and citizen speeds (beta test option)
- Fixed incompatibility issue with Improved Mods Panel that was making the options button disappear

Thanks for making the realistic speed option separate from the other Beta Test option!

The two lane busway (unlike the 6 lane) is the wrong way round for RHD - driving on the left.
They look awesome though, great job.

It would be nice to see one way variations too.

Hmm.. I think I know where I screwed up. I'll have it fixed in the next update. Thanks for letting me know :)
I'll add new variations in the next update too.

Good stuff ;) loving what you have done so far as I'm sure your other 35k subscribers are :)

Haven't tried realistic speed yet, but buslanes and busways are working fine to me. Just couple of small visual glitches (you probably are aware of them):

1) When zoomed out far, busway turns into grey colour.
2) Two-Lane busways intersection is in grey colour even if all roads in intersection are busways. (That one probably not very easy to fix)

Great work on update, thanks!

Hi Lexus,

1) I've changed the LODs from these roads but they only seem to be applied when close enough. The far out levels must have a general LOD applied that is used on every road. I still need to figure this out.

2) Yes, it does look bad when all roads are busways. I thought I couldn't fix it but now that you made me think some more about it, I think I may have a solution. You'll see if I do on the next update :P

Thank you for the feedback!

Played with this update for a few hours last night, and I love the new look for bus lanes and bus road! Awsome!
Realistic speeds... I love the idea but, for me atleast, it make chaos with the bad AI for traffic. If AI would change lanes and plan routes a bit more "flexible" as IRL it would be fine complement.
I had a quite heavy loaded crossing (6-lane with bus lanes) before this update. After I enabled the new Realistic speed option that crossing ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up a really large area with heavy traffic.

As always, thanks for your lovley work!

Hi PsychoCheF,

Thank you for the feedback.
AI is definitively a problem and the speeds still need some tinkering, including the traffic lights speed. Currently, they have the original speed which means they are too fast compared to the new speed of the vehicles. Each time it's green, only 2 or 3 cars will advance so the overall throughput is greatly reduced. That might actually be your biggest problem there.

Do you mind explaining a bit (for those of us who are programming-challenged) the best way to get this working with the source code if we want to change something here or there? I wanted faster service roads, so I downloaded the source on GitHub and managed to get it working... but I don't know if I put way more than necessary in the source folder.

Great job on the mod, btw!

Hey @jfarias, great new update, loving it! Been playing around with the 2-lane bus way and there seems to be an issue with it. Bus lines almost never prefer to use the new bus way, going instead by crazy routes to their destination. Take a look at this screenshot for example:
http://imgur.com/50xnbAQ
I'm trying to get the bus to go from the small terminal at the top to the bigger one inside the roundabout. I've marked the bus way with purple and where I want the bus to go with a red arrow. As you can see, the line completely disregards the bus way bridge on the left, going via the roundabout.
Is there any way to set it so that bus lines prefer to use the bus way?

Thanks again, this is all brilliant work!

You should open an issue on github to avoid spamming this discussion with technical stuff. But please be more specific on what you're doing and what you're trying to achieve, because I'm not sure exactly what you mean with putting "way more than necessary in the source folder" since you managed to get it working.

They never prefer to use bus lanes over the others. I haven't made that change yet. The bus lanes simply don't allow other types of cars on them.

It does seem that the bus lines are actively avoiding the 2-lane bus ways, though. It will prefer to take a much longer route, with loops in it, rather than taking the bus way. Any idea on how to take control over this for now?

So, here's my "bug" report.

First of all, link to the file: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3zlueui3od3ef9o/output_log.txt?dl=0

List of mods:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/m575p7k4lso0apw/Naamloos2.png?dl=0

Game version: 1.0.7c

------

So, what happens:
Upon loading an old savegame, you get an error message. clicking OK will loose the message and enable you to play. Only thing I found so far is the lane changer mod not working.
When trying to save, I get another error message, and the game does NOT save at all.

Upon starting a new game, I don't get an error. Lane changer mod doesn't work, and upon trying to save, I again get an error, and the save does not work.

Hopefully this helps, and thanks for the nice weekly updates, including a very nice update topic
