Corvettes a bit underwhelming?
Is it just me or are Corvettes underperforming quite a lot? I found they are unable to hit Cruisers at all and are pretty much wasted space. Is there any point making them at all?

All slashing type beams are inacurate vs cruisers but great vs capships, and the Deimos has four of them with great coverage but low forward firepower. In fact, anti-capship cruisers are one of the best counters (if not the best) for Deimoses. A Deimos shines best if you can manouver it so that it has an enemy capship at 1-2 o'clock or at 10-11 o'clock, bringing three slashing beams to bear ;) On the opposite side, the SCv Moloch is the best corvette against cruisers and the worst corvette against capital ships.

Fair enough, although honestly why buy a Deimos or Sobek when you can get a few flights of bombers for the same price that do far better jobs and are more survivable? The Moloch is at least useful due to it's flight deck which comes in handy if you need to repair fighters near combat and don't want to risk a Destroyer.

@Stayed Keep in mind that Corvettes have access to Sprint Drives, making them excellent expand raiders. They are fast, and have a lot of point defense too, making them pretty solid against bombers once you get fast-tracking turrets. They don't like to fight cruisers, but Sobek fleets have ended many a Ravana.

Because if the opponent has interceptors, fast-tracking turrents, assaultfighters, awacs, or any of the other bomber counters, then your bombers are going to get turned into soup.
