Dota 2
Русская озвучка DOTA 2 / Russian VO

Reasons why Valve should never add this into the game in any form.
As a big fan of Dota 2, english VO and a native Russian speaker, who loves his mother tongue I ask Valve not to add this low quality voice-over into the game.
I have my reasons:

1) It ruins the lore completely. Not going too deep into this but the most absurd example is probably the fact that Strategic Music added for a few heroes the line: "Thanks for the new rune,Gabe" (it was right after bounty rune was added). I think it proves enough, that this studio has no idea how to work on a game with such a rich lore.
SM dont mind adding their own lines into the game and dont hide it. All of the heroes got poetic lines and rhymes (which according to SM is supposed to make the heroes more fun and deeper). Can you imagine Pudge saying a vers eor a poem? Well, they can and its already in their project.

2) They are unprofesional. Some of the heroes have been voiced by Dmitri Kuzmenko's relatives, who probably have no experience in doing that. Naga Siren and Death prophet have been voiced by his wife. Despite receiving a lot of criticism (especially on Naga Siren) his wife continued voicing these heroes, they just made a new version of it (that got criticised even more). One of the Meepos (yes, Meepo has been voiced by 4 different actors here) got voiced by his brother. And one of the Ogre Magis got voiced by a popular internet blogger who has a severe speech disorder). And these are just a few examples. Several heroes have been voiced by internet bloggers and youtubers who were supposed to draw attention to this SM's project but unfortunately they have 0 experience in voice acting.

3) They have weird methods in communicating with people. Which in my opinion proves how unprofessional they are. After finishing a dozen of heroes' voice-overs SM decided its "time to act" and to knock on Valve's door. So they asked all of their fans to literally SPAM Valve's mail to let them know how bad they want it in the game. I am not an expert in how PR works, but to me it means they have lack of manners. In their Vkontakte (Russian version of Facebook) group they banned all the people who even dared to write negative comments on their work, even if the criticism was constructive. They changed some versions of the heroes' voice-over only after they got 80% dislikes on Youtube.

P.S. I respect SM's desire to make a Russian version of Dota 2 voice-over but i think they have no idea how to do it properly. My biggest concern is that they violate the game's lore in terrible ways and are either not even aware of that or think its fine. I really want Dota 2 heroes to have Russian voices as an alternative to the original ones but i want it to be done by professionals. I think this VO should never be added into the game in any form.

While I'm a Swede myself and play Dota2 in english, and think plenty of what is written in the original post raises some question marks, I still don't understand why anyone would be opposed the project.

If you don't like it - don't buy it or use it. Nobody is forcing it on you. What's the issue, really?

By allowing localizations to exist, even if one might desire other versions of it, it still encourages other people to localize into their native languages, and it still at the very least offers an _alternative_. Currently there seems to be no suchalternative - as a russian you don't have the choice. This brings you that, if you happen to be satisfied with the quality and don't care about the DNA or occupation of the voice actors ;)

Well, I think I've already answered that to be honest. First, its so bad, that it ruins the game lore entirely, it hurts my feelings as a Dota fan. Its like SM's own game, its not Dota 2 anymore. And secondly, as i already said I want Russian voices of Dota 2 heroes, but if Valve accepts this amateur voiceover, then Dota 2 will obviously never get normal profesional Russian voiceover. That's the problem.
