Familiae Romanae: Roman Houses

Playing as A Roman Faction
Playing as one of the Roman Houses is harder than it seems. All of the Houses have to support each other if they hope to survive. The Roman Houses under AI control do a fantastic job of helping each other out and joining the others' wars. Here's some helpful tips.

- Ask the other Roman houses to join your wars! They're good about attacking your enemies and even if they aren't, you can set war coordination targets that they'll follow. It can often be too difficult to take on your enemies by yourself.

- Help out your Roman allies! Even if they'll eventually be your enemies when the civil war comes about, you still need them to help keep Italy secure. Too often, the mainland will be invaded and it could be up to you to drive off the invaders as the other two houses will be either too weakened or too busy engaged in their own wars to drive the invaders off themselves.

- Don't attempt to take Rome until you're ready. The Senate has a full stack of Praetorians that will not leave the city for anything. You'll need multiple stacks of legions to take them down.

- When the civil war eventually occurs, leave Rome for last. You'll be too busy fighting the other houses. Taking Rome will mean a large commitment of your soldiers which could leave other areas of your empire defenseless

Hope these tips help! Enjoy!

Thanks for the summary regarding the Civil War, question, I''\m about mid-point on the campaign play....No CW yet, is it part of the play..will CW break out, I have reached 3/4 of my imperium bar....Under the faction, Julia....I do have to deal with Slave rebellions every two to three turns, I have only 55 senators in Senate...My faction's influence is almost at zero, with no respect from the Senate and public...Yet as it currently stands, My budget is always at a surplus, my enemies are defeated..Will CW occur?????? Can I avoid that mess..And thank you for your excellent guide....

The CW should occur. I don't know why it wouldn't. The point is for the other Roman Houses to declare war on you when the CW occurs and for you to defeat them. If you defeat the Roman Senate, your faction's name will change to the Roman Empire. Play a little more, if the CW doesn't happen let me know. Thank you

im playing this multiplayer co op were scipi and julii is it possible to break clinet state with spqr so we dont have to keep paying them and not go to war with them?
Thunder Bagel  [developer] 11 Sep, 2015 @ 5:56am
Yeah it's possible. You can just hit "cancel client state". I don't believe you'll go to war but if the Senate does go to war with you, the other two Roman houses wil take the Senate's side

What I want is to take the Senate but not the other houses, this may seem impossible but I am trying to develop an alliance with the other houses to fight the senate, if this is possible what should I do, treat them more kindly, payments?
The Senate has stacks of men although I have got thousands of praetorians and armies just to let you know.

Hey Vindicator. Yeah the other houses will declare war on you if you attack the Senate. What I would do is bring more than enough men to take down the SPQR in one blow and then branch out from there to secure Italy within a few turns. That should give you a good defensive position against the other houses.

Thanks, I'll do that, it will be kinda hard though cause Brutii controls alot of provinces and in the east and may branch out to the western side where I am at the two corners where we connect, I guess I'll just have to defend those provinces aswell but I have destroyed all of europe so I have no threats.

Good luck!

Sorry it took me so looooong to get back to you! But I completed my game sequence and there was no Civil War?? Yet right to the very end, constant rebellions...but it became very easy to destroy them in one battle???

Hey Steve. So I was under the impression that the CW was likely to happen with the Emperor Edition. I was wrong. If you would like to raise the threat of a CW breaking out and making politics more engaging, I recommend my mod "The Great Politics Overhaul". Otherwise, politics is fairly obsolete in this game

I'm using one of your mods, too. The greater Carthage Empire. Taking a small break from the game..Hey after the first couple of turns, the situation really became more fierce! More countries's attacked, along with the Roman Empire, I lost a provice in Hispania and several cities have rebelled!
