Midspace's exploration ship scan [EOL]
Mod Idea... If anyone can do it, its you Screaming Angels
I'm not sure how possible this is, but I had an idea. Maybe you can look into it. What if, you could scan all allied beacons in range including beacons from factions you are at peace with. Then it took that scan and created a "map" based on what those beacons "saw" within their range. Stellar Cartography. Again, I'm not sure if the can could support something like this, but I thought I'd get the idea out there so that if it is, or is someday someone might try to make this.

But how would you display the map? That is the feature lacking in SE currently. A moddable UI. :(

Even if it was just a screen like your /scan that showed objects of interest other than derelicts within range of your "broadcast net". It would at least give you an idea like your derelict scan and someday might be able to have a GUI map addded to it.

Or create a special block like a different projector that could display a 3D view (like in sci-fi movies) You could create like a briefing room with a big revolving map in the center. And you could highlite certain points on the map.

I've even had a go of changing the Skybox mid game, but it doesn't support it currently.

you could try having it creat a 2d image and display that on the new lcd screens or even have it just show a radar style of ping echo on your hud like what they have in submarines. another option would be to have it as a programable block script so you can set up a timer to run it at set intervals then have the output go to the lcd screen in text format.

edit for above.
could you make a programable block script that will connect to this one to allow it to work outside of it's own grid?
