Cant find battlefield loot piles

Im not sure what the issue is but i have seen several battles and sieges take place and no battlefield site loot appears, is it a random encounter or what? thanks

You can set in the mod options menu at what size battle you want this to spawn, then you will start finding them as battles happen. You can pick your party to accompany you similar to the keep battles but I warn you they are much more difficult as it spawns many enemies which quickly gather the loot available.
