Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord

Shokuho
I'm like Sisyphus with these damn compiling shaders
I spent 25 minutes just trying to get from the main menu thru character customization and then into my first battle against looters and had to eventually give up, I left the game on overnight to compile all shaders, and then as soon as I load my save after restarting the game I spend 5 minutes compiling shaders again

Vanilla Bannerlord load times were never remotely this bad, what the hell is going on?

They give you an option to preload all off them in the main menu. yes it takes a wile, but you dont have to be present for all of them to load. It also just for the first time. load all of them once and enjoy afterwards.

Yea, that's what I meant by leaving the game on overnight, realize now I wasn't very clear on that, thanks though!

Bannerlord TC mods in general have this problem, they can't give you a shader cache to use so every material the game hasn't seen before will require some shaders to be compiled. The compile shaders option will try to get most of them, but you'll be seeing shader compilation happening on most loads. It will get a lot better with time.

Another mod, 'The Old Realm', once took me about an hour to get to the main menu. I wish Taleworlds would provide a better way to handle this, TBH.

Ahh, that makes sense then, yea. Thanks for the info, didn't realize it worked that way

for me it doesnt matter if you preload the shaders, when i first load a save, there is a long wait whilst 550+ shaders load, when then i enter a battle for the first time since loading, between 1000 and 5000 shaders usually load up and it takes forever (or what seems like), it particularly bad when entering a tournament for the first time after loading the game ..... after the extremely log wait the next and all future battles i load into load fast and its not a problem
While i agree with the reasons others gave, there is actually something really strange with Shokuho when it comes to shader loading and general fps drop in game. Most of you may not notice it because you have gaming PC's but i notice it instantly because i play on a potato without a GPU.

Old Realms mod has much higher quality of models/textures yet it loads faster and there is no fps drop. I don't know if Shokuho is somehow badly optimized or if it's because they put everything into one "module" while Old realms split it into "Core", "Armory" and "Environment".
